My 45 ACP carbine has a 16" barrel. Its a Thompson copy and uses Thomposn mags - straight feed and will feed empty cases or any bullet shape. My 45 ACP load that clocked 918 fps from a 7" 1911 clocked 1020 fps from the 16" carbine. It did not slow down, it gained 100 fps in that additional 9" using WW231 powder.
