- Ugly: Drop Dumplings. Some foods can be very surprising. For example, drop dumplings are incredibly ugly. However, many people who sit down to try them do end up enjoying them quite a bit.
- Beautiful: Lutefisk. Seafood is pretty good. People all over the world seem to love things like lobster, shrimp, and some kinds of fish. However, there are cases in which the outward appearance of the food can be very deceiving.
- Ugly: Meatloaf. There are some foods that people either love or hate, and it seems like one of them is meatloaf. That could be due to a lot of things, but one reason some men and women do not like it is because of the way it looks.
- Beautiful: Limburger Cheese. Many foods are very nice to look at. When a dish is a visual treat for the eyes, it is hard not to imagine that it must also be a tasty treat for the mouth, right?
- Ugly: Casseroles. Casseroles have been a very popular meal to fix for dinner for a very long time. However, some of them do not look that great, which is probably due to the fact that there are a lot of different ingredients mixed together in them.
- Beautiful: Donut Burgers. There have been numerous times when two good products mixed together created another awesome product. However, that does not always happen.
- Ugly: Gumbo. Every part of the world seems to have a signature food. For example, one of many popular dishes in the southern region of the United States of America is gumbo.
- Beautiful: Pure Chocolate. Many men, women, and children seem to enjoy a huge variety of different things, especially when it comes to food. However, one thing that nearly everyone seems to enjoy some form of is chocolate.
- Ugly: White Chicken Chili. There are a lot of foods that some people never end up trying just because they do not look appetizing. However, some of them actually taste pretty good.
- Beautiful: Breadfruit. Tropical fruits are known for their beauty, as well as their delicious taste. However, not all fruits that are pretty on the outside taste very good on the inside, and that is where breadfruit comes in.

- Casseroles. Ah, casseroles. No potluck would be complete without ’em. But unless you try reeeeeally hard, your casserole is gonna look like exactly what it is — a mishmash of random ingredients that all get mixed together in a giant dish.
- Kiwi. They’re brown, oddly egg-shaped, and are as hairy as your legs are when you forget/are too lazy to shave for a couple of days. Simply put, kiwi skin is just plain una peel ing (get it?)
- Brie. It’s covered in mold. MOLD. A living, growing organism. AKA the stuff that grows on that yogurt you forgot in the back of the fridge and why it’s a good idea to wear flip flops in the communal dorm showers.
- Oatmeal. Poor oatmeal. In my opinion, oatmeal is one of the most underrated breakfast dishes. It’s healthy, cheap, and fills you up. Sure, it resembles what I imagine prison food looks like and really doesn’t have much to offer on its own.
- Guacamole. Guacamole is just about everywhere these days, so I think we’ve gotten accustomed to its bright green hue and smooth, yet chunky texture. But if you think about, everybody’s favorite burrito bowl topping really isn’t all that pretty.
- Lentil Soup. Low in fat, high in fiber, and chock-full of protein and iron, I wouldn’t be surprised if lentils are the next trendy superfood. Unfortunately, these little legumes just aren’t bringing it in the looks department — especially when you make them into soup.
- Passion Fruit. Cutting open this tropical fruit reveals an abundance of pulp and seeds that kinda look like little frog eyeballs. This fruit is weird, y’all.
- Chili. Most soups and stews are just plain ugly, and chili is no exception. Come on, we all know what’s lurking under that cheese and sour cream. And don’t get me started on chili dogs.
- Ugli Fruit. A cross between a grapefruit, orange, and tangerine, this Jamaican citrus fruit is actually named for its ugliness. As the fruit ripens, the skin gets bumpy, wrinkly, and discolored, hence the name.
