THE BEST GRILLED STEAK EVER!

The Best Grilled Steak Ever! image

I have tried about 20 grilled steak recipes here, and none beat my old tried and true recipe. It is the result of years of experimentation, and is the best. I tried another Zaar recipe tonight, and I have decided to try and post mine here. Some of the ingredients are regional spices, so I'm not sure if I can post it, but I will do the best I can. This is absolutely the best grilled steak I have ever eaten! Please note: this is best made on a charcoal grill, gas is okay, but charcoal is best!! If you really want a smokey flavor, add hickory chips and cover the grill during the last few minutes!

Time 33m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 (14 -16 ounce) porterhouse steaks (about 1-inch thick) or 2 (14 -16 ounce) beef t-bone steaks (about 1-inch thick)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tablespoon all purpose Greek seasoning, no salt included, I recommend Cavendars
1/3 tablespoon southern flavor charbroil seasoning, available from www.southernflavor.com (I am not affiliated with them in any way...I have just not found a better product!)

Steps:

  • Mix the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, greek seasoning, and southern flavoring together.
  • Place steaks in a shallow pan. Pour above mixture over the steaks. Turn to coat. Leave on the counter at room temperature. This is very important. It allows your meat to relax and absorb the marinade. This makes for the most tender and juicy of steaks!
  • Place desired amount of charcoal in the bottom section of your grill. Squirt some lighter fluid on it. Light your charcoal after waiting a couple of minutes. Let the coals reach a medium high temp -- this should take about 20-25 minutes. Spread your coals evenly. This recipe is best on a charcoal grill, but you can use gas.
  • Place the steaks on the grill. Cook about 4 minutes on each side. Cook according to your preferences -- medium, medium-rare, well done, etc.
  • 4 minutes on each side should produce a medium or medium-rare steak at 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick.

THE BEST STEAK SEASONING AND PREP YOU WILL EVER TRY!

The Best Steak Seasoning and Prep You Will Ever Try! image

I use this recipe on ribeyes all of the time. This is truly the best I have ever had. I got the recipe from watching a travel show on TV and decided to try it. My husband wont even order a steak in a restaurant, other than Red Lobster (lol, isn't that funny - I think it's the new wood fire grill they have). Anyhow, he says and I agree that this IS the seasoning to use. This makes a lot, so I leave it in an air tight container and have it ready when I need it. I made smaller portions before but found that I just had to keep mixing it up. It keeps very well. Oh, and the seasoning works great for corn on the cob also!

Time 5m

Yield 2 steaks, 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup salt
1 cup pepper
1/2 cup garlic salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup chopped parsley
2 rib eye or 2 strips steaks
olive oil

Steps:

  • Mix all dry ingredients.
  • Put steaks out on the counter for atleast 15 minutes to allow the chill to wear off. Get grill nice and hot before putting steaks on.
  • Drizzle each steak with Olive Oil. Top each with seasoning mix and rub into steaks (I would say a teaspoons or so for each).
  • Put steaks on grill, seasoned side down, and season the unseasoned side.
  • Cook to desired temperature and remove to a plate with tongs. TIP: Don't move the steaks more than 4 times to preserve the tenderness and keep them moist.
  • Do not pierce the steaks with a fork or knife or you will lose the juice.
  • Allow steaks to rest for atleast 5 minutes. Serve.

Time 3h30m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 11

½ cup olive oil
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
6 tablespoons soy sauce
¼ cup minced garlic
½ medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon crushed dried rosemary
3 tablespoons steak seasoning
3 tablespoons steak sauce (e.g. A-1)
4 (10 ounce) Delmonico (rib-eye) steaks

Steps:

  • Combine the olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, rosemary, steak seasoning, and steak sauce in the container of a food processor or blender. Process until well blended.
  • Prick steaks on both sides with a fork, and place in a shallow container with a lid. Pour marinade over steaks, cover, and refrigerate at least 3 hours, or overnight.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat, or light charcoal, and wait until coals are completely white. Soaked wood chips may be added to the coals when ready for a smoky flavor, if you like.
  • Remove steaks from marinade, and discard the marinade. Lightly oil the grilling surface, and place steaks on the grill. Cover, and grill steaks for about 10 minutes on each side, or to your desired degree of doneness.
