12 king brand hawaiian sweet dinner rolls (found in DELI section rather than BREAD section of most supermarkets for some odd reason. Flavor or )
1 lb black forest style ham, shaved thinly, then cut into 12 sections
1/4 lb gruyere cheese (or Compte ~3 slices, cut into quarters)
12 tablespoons chive and onion flavored cream cheese
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 teaspoons dried onion flakes
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
Baby Spinach (to garnish, optional) (optional) or lettuce (to garnish) (optional)

Steps:

  • Cut all rolls in half, making buns with tops/bottoms. (Easiest to do all at once; keeping bottoms connected as one unit). Place bottoms of rolls in a rimmed baking dish pan, sprayed with Pam.
  • Place equal amounts of ham on each roll bottom.
  • Top with slice of cheese.
  • On the cut-side of the roll TOPS, spread ~ 1 Tbs. of chive/onion cream cheese (again, just keep them all connected). Return bun tops to the bottoms, making a sandwich. (At this point, I slice through sections to finish separating individual sandwiches, so topping can drizzle down).
  • Combine the melted butter, onion flakes, and Worcestershire sauce. Spoon this over top of each sandwich. Sprinkle tops with Parmesan. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for AT LEAST 30 minutes - up to overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350. Bake sandwiches (covered in foil) for 20-25 minutes, until golden on top and Gruyére is melted. Optional: Sprinkle with chopped fresh chives & insert a leaf of baby spinach in each. Serve immediately.

8 small potato buns, split and toasted
2 tablespoons mayonnaise, optional
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
4 romaine lettuce leaves, torn in small pieces
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 slices crispy cooked bacon
4 thin slices roasted ham or turkey (about 2 ounces)
1 half-pint grape or cherry tomatoes
Sweet, dill, or bread and butter pickles
Potato straws, optional

Steps:

  • Spread both sides of buns with mayonnaise, if desired, and barbecue sauce.
  • Layer bottom half of buns with lettuce, bacon and ham or turkey. Top with other half of bun. Serve with tomatoes, pickles and potato straws.

  • Slice dinner rolls in half horizontally. Stir softened cream cheese with 1 tsp garlic powder until well combined and spreadable (I microwave cream cheese 20 sec or so, to get it extra soft.) Evenly spread cream cheese mixture onto the top/bottom centers of split rolls. Place bottom halves onto baking sheet. Evenly layer each bottom roll with ham and cheese. Place top halves of dinner rolls over the filling. If not baking right away, cover airtight (I often use another sheet pan of the same size, or just cover tightly with foil) and chill until ready to bake.
  • When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350F with rack on lower middle position. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and set aside.
  • In a saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients over low heat. Stir until melted and incorporated. When ready to bake sliders, Brush butter mixture evenly over the tops and edges of sliders. Try to get most of the butter mixture to sit on top of rolls.
  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melty. Remove foil and bake 8-10 minutes more or until tops are nicely golden; watch closely towards end of bake time so that tops don’t burn. If your sliders are still connected, carefully cut into individual sliders so they’re easy for people to grab and go. Be careful, they’ll be very hot!
