I was putting up wallpaper a few days ago and the darn stuff wouldn't adhere to the wall even tho it was prepasted! I made and used this, and it worked great. I love this stuff! I did use just half the recipe on my small project and it was easy and worked well.

Yield 2-3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon alum
1 cup cold water
2 cups boiling water

Steps:

  • Combine flour and sugar.
  • Slowly add the cold water and beat it until no lumps remain.
  • Add the boiling water, stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil.
  • When it is stiff, remove from the heat and add alum.
  • Store in an air-tight container.
  • Note: If need be, it can be softened by adding small amounts of warm water until desired consistency is achieved.

1/4 CUP SUGAR
2 QUARTS WARM WATER
1/2 TEASPOON OIL OF CINNAMON *(OIL OF CINNAMON SHOULD NOT BE EATEN.)

Steps:

  • COMBINE THE FLOUR AND SUGAR. ADD A BIT OF WARM WATER TO MAKE A THICK PASTE. SLOWLY ADD THE REST OF THE WATER, STIRRING WITH EACH ADDITION. BOIL STIRRING CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL THE MIXTURE IS THICK AND CLEAR OR MICROWAVE THE MIXTURE AT THIGH FOR 2 MINUTES, STIR AND MICROWAVE AGAIN AT HIGH SETTING FOR 2 MINUTES. ADD THE OIL OF CINNAMON. POUR INTO STORAGE CONTAINER
