These Orange Honey BBQ Wings are coated in the best citrusy sauce you've ever had! Each wing is crisp on the outside, tender in the middle, and sinfully delicious all over! You can air fry, bake or grill these, and they come out perfect every time!

1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 1/2 lbs party chicken wing dings (they should be disjointed with tips removed)
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salted butter
2 tsp minced garlic
1 cup fave thick bbq sauce
1/2 cup orange blossom honey
1/4 cup Florida's Natural Orange Juice, No Pulp
2 tbsp light brown sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne until combined.
  • In a large bowl, pat dry chicken wings with a paper towel then sprinkle with baking powder to make sure they stay dry.
  • Then sprinkle on seasoning mix in two intervals until chicken is thoroughly coated.
  • Line all the wings onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the wings and flip them to the other side. Return to the oven and bake for another 25 minutes. While wings are baking, prepare the Honey BBQ Sauce.
  • Set your air fryer temperature to 400 degrees. Spray rack using a cooking oil spray and arrange chicken wings evenly on the rack. Make sure you don't overcrowd the wings so they can cook evenly.
  • Allow wings to cook for 15-17 mins making sure to flip halfway. They should be pretty much done.
  • Oil your grill rack, preheat to medium heat (about 350) and grill your wings for about 12 minutes. Turn your wings occasionally to help slowly render the fat and cook the flesh without burning.
  • Place the wings on direct heat to get charred marks if desired when they are close to being done.
  • Add butter to a medium sized pot over medium heat until it melts then add garlic and cook until fragrant for about 30 seconds.
  • Next add bbq sauce, honey, Florida's Natural Orange Juice, brown sugar and cayenne pepper.
  • Allow the sauce to simmer then decrease the heat to a low and continue stirring allowing the flavors to come together, for about another 10 minutes.
  • When the wings have finished baking, air frying or grilling, place them all into a large bowl. Pour the Orange Honey BBQ Sauce over the wings, then toss the wings to completely coat.
  • Now return the wings to an oven or air fryer to get that sauce super sticky. Add them to a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for about 7-8 minutes on 400 degrees or in the air fryer at 400 degrees. The sauce should be sticky, caramelized and bubbly.

This recipe is more about the sauce. You can fry your wings, grill them, however you'd like to prepare them. Just toss them in that delicious Orange-Henny sauce, and get your life.

3 to 5 lbs chicken wings
3 tbsp baking powder (aluminum free)
1 tsp sweet paprika
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 - 1 tsp cayenne
1 tbsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp granulated garlic (not garlic salt!)
1 tbsp granulated onion
1 12oz. bottle Chili Sauce (or ketchup)
2 tbsp mustard (creole, brown, dijon, or yellow)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 small yellow or sweet onion, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
3/4 cup Hennessy
1/4 - 1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup orange marmalade
1/2-3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 - 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp smoked paprika
few dashes of worcestershire
few dashes of liquid smoke (optional)
granulated garlic, to taste
granulated onion, to taste
black pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees. mix all of the dry ingredients together until combined, sprinkle over the chicken until coated. you may or may not need all of this mixture, just make sure each piece is covered nicely. Bake the chicken for 20 minutes. Flip the chicken over and bake an additional 20 minutes. Flip one last time and bake for 10-15 minutes or until completely crispy. Toss with the Orange-Henny BBQ Sauce.
  • Put everything in a pot over medium/medium-low heat, bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Once sauce has reduced and thickened (should take about 20-30 minutes), turn off the heat and hit it with one final splash of Henny (about 1oz). Store leftover sauce in an air-tight container and use it for something else. Will keep for a week.

1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup hot sauce
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1 (4 pound chicken) cut into 10 pieces, patted dry with paper towels
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange Juice
1/4 cup Neely's BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon allspice

Steps:

  • Mix the orange juice, olive oil, hot sauce, mustard, and orange zest together in a large bowl. Add the chicken and toss to combine. Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate for at least 1 hour and up to overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Prepare the grill to medium direct heat. Let chicken come to room temperature before grilling.
  • Drain the chicken from the marinade and pat dry. Grill on each side for 5 minutes, then turn the heat to medium-low and cover the lid of the grill. Continue cooking the chicken until it's cooked through, about 25 minutes more.
  • While the chicken is grilling, melt the butter in a small saucepan on the grill. Whisk in the honey, orange juice, BBQ sauce, zest, mustard and allspice. Reserve some of the glaze in a small ramekin for serving.
  • Brush the chicken pieces with glaze, then flip the chicken, glaze side down, and cook for 2 minutes. Brush second side of the chicken with glaze and flip again. Continue cooking for 3 more minutes. Remove the chicken from grill to a platter and serve with reserved glaze.

18 chicken wings
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon paprika

cooking spray
1 cup barbecue sauce, preferably Hickory Smoke Flavor
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons hot sauce
4 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Wash, dry, and season the wings with the salt, garlic, pepper, cayenne, sugar, and paprika. Preheat the oven to 375.
  • Spray a cookie sheet with a generous spray of cooking spray.
  • Place the wings in a single layer on the cookie sheet, and place in the oven.
  • Cook for 35-40 minutes, depending on the size of the wings, turning once.
  • While they are baking, make the sauce by slowly simmering the sauce ingredients over the lowest heat.
  • When the wings are done baking, carefully dip them in the sauce, and place them back in the oven for another 5 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling.

This is a KFC copycat recipe. These taste soooo good!!! I'm going to use this sauce for everything!! Well, not everything...but it's really good! My eldest son has really missed KFC wings after moving to the UK, and this is a great substitute. Not exact, but good enough not to need to be exact! I couldn't find any liquid smoke, but we loved it anyway.

6 cups vegetable oil (up to 8 cups)
20 chicken wings
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
3/4 teaspoon msg
1 1/4 cups ketchup
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon chili powder

Steps:

  • Combine the sauce ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until ingredients are well-combined and bring to a boil. Then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • As sauce is simmering, heat up 6 to 8 cups of oil in a deep fryer set to 350 degrees. Combine the beaten egg with the milk in a small bowl. In another small bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper and MSG.
  • When oil is hot, dip each wing first in the flour mixture, then into the milk and egg mixture, and back into the flour. Arrange wings on a plate until each one is breaded.
  • Fry the wings in the oil for 9 to 12 minutes or until light, golden brown. If you have a small fryer, you may wish to fry 10 of the wings at a time. Drain on paper towels or a rack.
  • When the sauce is done, brush the entire surface of each wing with a light coating of sauce. Serve immediately.
