Steps:

  • Bring water, vinegar, and seafood seasoning to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Add shrimp and stir.
  • Reduce heat to medium, cover, and steam, stirring once or twice, until bright orange in color, 3 to 5 minutes. Drain.

2 tbsps old bay seasoning
1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined leaving tails on

  • In a medium saucepan mix vinegar water and OLD BAY. Bring to boil on medium heat. Gently stir in shrimp then cover.Steam 2 to 3 minutes or just until shrimp turn pink. These shrimp marinate for only 30 minutes in a flavorful mix of lemon juice, garlic and the powerhouse spice blend, Old Bay seafood seasoning. Don't be tempted to let them sit in the sauce any longer than that because the lemon juice will start to cook the shrimp and make them tough. Serve with some boiled or roasted potatoes for a grill-lover's version of a shrimp boil.

1 large lemon
2 large cloves garlic
1 tablespoon seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 pound jumbo shrimp (16/20), peeled and deveined
Hot sauce, for serving

Steps:

  • Juice half of the lemon and add the juice to a medium glass bowl. Finely grate the garlic and add to the bowl along with the Old Bay seasoning, olive oil and shrimp. Toss to combine.
  • Marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, cut the remaining lemon half into wedges and reserve for serving.
  • Heat a large grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the shrimp from the marinade and put on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. In batches, cook the shrimp until lightly charred in spots on both sides and just cooked through, about 3 minutes total. Remove from the heat and transfer to a large plate.
  • Serve the shrimp with the reserved lemon wedges and hot sauce.

  • In a large bowl, combine shrimp, olive oil, kosher salt, and Old Bay seasoning. Toss to combine.
  • Place beer and water in a skillet or pot, then heat over high heat until rapidly boiling. Turn heat down to a simmer. Place seasoned shrimp in a steamer basket (see note below if you don't have a steaming basket), set on top of the simmering skillet or pot, then place a lid on top. Steam for 2 minutes, check and toss shrimp as needed, then cook 2-3 minutes more, or until just pink on both sides.
  • Remove shrimp and place in a large serving bowl. Sprinkle with chopped parsley, then serve with lemon wedges on the side. Can be served hot, room temperature, or cold. Recipe for homemade cocktail sauce below.
