Ingredients

3 cups tomato juice
1 cup tequila, chilled
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon hot sauce
2 teaspoons Worcestershire
Juice of 4 limes
Lime wheels, for garnish
Celery stalks, for garnish
Bacon-Wrapped Pickles, for garnish, recipe follows
6 cornichon pickles
6 slices bacon

Steps:

Combine the tomato juice, tequila, horseradish, hot sauce, Worcestershire and lime juice in a pitcher.
Serve over ice with a lime wheel, celery stalk and a Bacon-Wrapped Pickle to garnish.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a rimmed sheet tray with heavy-duty foil.
Lay the bacon out on the sheet tray. Par-bake the bacon for 10 minutes. Lay out in a paper towel to drain off any extra grease.
Wrap each cornichon in a slice of bacon and secure with a bamboo pick. Place back in the oven until the bacon is crisp, 10 minutes.

For many years my mother prepared this ring-shaped cake for our breakfast! My children love this super easy ciambella too. They spread some margarine and sugar over the slices and Yum... This is a souvenir in honor of my parents!

Ingredients

400 g flour (13 ounces)
150 g margarine (5 ounces) or 150 g butter (5 ounces)
180 g sugar (6 ounces)
1 pinch salt
4 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons liqueur (we use maraschino)
1 lemon zest or 1 orange zest
100 ml milk (1/3 cup)
1 -2 tablespoon sugar (additional only for topping)

Steps:

Preheat the oven at 220°C (425.°F).
Grease your mold (I use a ring-shaped one) and dust with four.
Work all the ingredients (reserve the sugar for topping) with the kneading machine until smooth.
Spread the batter in the mold.
Top with sugar.
Bake for 30 minutes at 220°C (425°F).

Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a two piece tube pan with butter and dust lightly with flour. Shake out excess flour.
Separate the eggs placing the egg yolks in a large mixing bowl and the whites in the bowl of your stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment.
Add the sugar and oil to the egg yolks and whisk vigorously for several minutes until the mixture is pale yellow, thick and forms ribbons when you lift the whisk out of the bowl.
Stir in the lemon rind and lemon juice. Add the sifted flour and baking powder. Stir until well combined.
