Steps:
- Before you start, keep in mind that this is a yeast-free, oil-free naan. It means that the texture won't be as soft and fluffy as the classic recipe. It is a denser and chewier bread but a delicious Vegan Naan option for any curry.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir flour, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour and stir in the non-dairy yogurt.
- Mix with a spatula, then get your hands in the dough to knead for a few seconds until the dough is combined and slightly sticky dough forms. Add 1-4 extra tablespoons of flour if needed until the dough is soft, not sticky, and you can form a ball.
- Return dough ball to the mixing bowl, cover the bowl with a towel and set aside at room temperature for about 15-30 minutes
- Sprinkle the work surface with flour, then place the dough ball on the surface. Sprinkle some more flour on top of the ball, and knead for 30 seconds until smooth.
- Dust the benchtop with more flour, cut the dough ball into 4 pieces. Roll each slice into a ball, then roll them with a rolling pin into a 1/4-inch / 0.6-cm thick round/oval shape.
- Preheat a non-stick saucepan under medium-high heat for 1 minute, don't add oil.
- When hot, add the rolled dough and cook for 3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an extra 1-2 minutes on the other side.
- Repeat these steps until all Vegan Naans are cooked.
- Brush each cooked bread with vegan butter or coconut oil.

EASY NAAN BREAD WITHOUT YEAST
Steps:
- Put flour, salt and nigella seeds in a bowl and give them a bit of a whisk with a fork or balloon whisk.
- Add yogurt and start mixing it into the flour mixture with your hand adding some lukewarm water bit by bit as you mix. Only add enough water to make your dough come together. You might not need the entire 115ml / 1/2 cup. It will depend a lot on the flour you are using too.
- You will get nice and flexible dough that is slightly rough and sticky. You will not need to knead it for a long time only to bring it together to shape a ball. Put the dough ball back in a bowl and cover with clean tea towel and leave to rest for anything between 30-60 minutes (however much time you've got). The dough will not raise during this time as there is no yeast.
- Take the dough ball out of the bowl and put on a kitchen counter dusted lightly with flour. Divide the dough into 8 equal size balls. Flatten each ball with the palm of your hand and stretch it lightly into the oval shape 15-18 cm long.
- Cook your naans under the hot grill for about 2 minutes on each side, until they puff up and start to brown slightly. Timings might differ depending on your grill and the size of your individual naans. Feel free to cook them in a frying pan instead (see tips above).
- Keep cooked naan bread wrapped in a clean kitchen towel as you cook the remaining ones. This will keep them soft until you're ready to eat them.
- Prepare Coriander & Garlic Butter by gently melting the butter in the microwave or in a small pan on the hob. Once melted add chopped coriander and minced garlic and mix well. Brush the mixture over hot naans.
- Enjoy with your favourite curry!

Steps:
- Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. You'll probably need to use your hands to bring it all together. Knead it for a minute or so in the bowl until it comes together in a fairly sticky ball. If necessary, add a little more flour to make it manageable.
- Divide it into six equal pieces. Using a rolling pin dusted with flour, roll each one out onto a floured surface to about 6" diameter.
- Heat a frying pan (without oil) until hot. Cook each flatbread for a few minutes on each side until lightly golden spots appear and it puffs up.
- Best eaten on the same day. If making ahead, warm them up in the oven before serving.

Steps:
- Combine flour along with baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar in a bowl. Mix nicely. Make a dent in the centre. Pour curd, and ghee in that dent. Mix well and let it rest for 1 - 2 minutes
- Using one tablespoon lukewarm water at a time form a soft and sticky dough. Knead well for 10 minutes. Naan dough is never dry. It has to be a bit sticky and moist.
- Grease a bowl with a teaspoon of ghee or oil. Transfer the dough into the ball. Cover with a tight-fitting lid or cling foil. Keep in a warm, draught-free place (I prefer inside the oven/ microwave/instant pot) for 1 - 2 hours.
- Combine topping ingredients in a bowl and keep near the gas stove. Keep one bowl of clean water next to it.
- Heat flat cast iron pan/griddle over medium heat. Divide the dough into equal golf ball-sized rounds.
- Gently flatten the dough ball with the pressure of your palm. Next, dip your fingers in water and gently try to shape the naan. Alternatively, you can dust the rolling surface with flour and roll out naan into an oval-shaped bread of 1/4 inch thickness.
- Again, using wet fingers stick a teaspoon of chopped toppings over the naan
- Place the naan on a hot griddle. Cook over medium heat. After a few seconds, naan will puff up and has charred, uneven marks on top
- Now turn the griddle upside down and cook the other side of bread on direct flame till it becomes light golden in color.
- If you are not comfortable flipping the pan, simply put the naan on direct flame-like Chapatis and cook until it gets charred marks on top or cook it covered in the cast iron pan itself.
- Apply some ghee/butter just before serving. Serve Naan warm with any curry of your choice.

Steps:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, place the all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix until combined.
- To the dry ingredients, add the oil, water and milk. Using the dough hook of your stand mixer, mix and knead the dough for about 7 to 10 minutes until the dough comes together and is not sticky anymore. The dough should be soft and not hard at all. If it feels hard, add one to two tablespoons of water and knead again.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it sit for 20 minutes.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and divide it into 8 pieces. Shape each piece to a ball and roll it out gently with a rolling pin into a disk with 1/4 inch thickness.
- Heat a cast iron skillet (or a non stick skillet) over medium heat.
- Once the skillet is hot, brush the naan on top with melted ghee. Transfer the naan to the skillet, ghee side down and cook for about 30 seconds until it's golden and has bubbles. Brush the top with ghee and flip so it cooks on the other side as well. This should take about 30 seconds or less.
- Once the naan is cooked, transfer to a plate and cover with a kitchen towel so it stays soft. Continue with the remaining dough.
- Serve with your favorite main dish.

Steps:
- Combine all dry ingredients, and whisk together.
- Create a well in the middle of the dry ingredients, and add the oil and milk. Mix everything together until it forms a ball. Turn out on the counter and knead until very smooth and elastic - at least 5 minutes - adding more flour as necessary.
- Let the dough rest for 10 minutes. Divide into 8-10 equal pieces.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Roll one piece of dough until very thin (less than 1/8″). If the skillet isn't non-stick, melt some butter before each piece. One at a time, cook the naan for about 90 seconds, or until parts are blackening, on each side. When they are done, you can brush them with butter and add seasonings (cilantro, garlic, etc.), if you want.
NAAN RECIPE NO YEAST
Steps:
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt to the stand mixer. Using the dough hook, mix the ingredients for 30 seconds on low speed. Alternatively, add the ingredients to a large bowl and mix well.
- Add 1 tablespoon of oil and all of the yogurt, and mix into the flour. Add ¼ cup water and start kneading on low speed, scraping the sides of the bowl. Add more water if needed, a tablespoon at a time. Knead for 2-3 minutes until you get a soft and stretchy dough.
- Add the remaining 1 teaspoon of oil and knead for another 30 seconds. If the dough looks sticky, add a teaspoon or two of flour.
- To rest and proof the dough, add it to the Instant Pot steel insert and set the yogurt mode for 30 minutes and cover with a glass lid. Or, you can simply cover the mixing bowl with a damp kitchen towel and set aside in a warm corner for 1 hour.
- Dust your hands with flour and transfer the dough onto a flat surface. Using a bench scraper or a chef's knife, divide the dough into 6 equal parts for large-sized naans or 8 equal parts for medium. Roll each dough ball in your palms to make a smooth ball.
- Using a rolling pin, apply gentle pressure and roll each dough ball into a large oval shape, about 8-inches long and ¼-inch thick, using as little flour as possible. If using nigella seeds, spread a few on top and roll once more to press them into the naan.
- Heat a non-stick skillet on medium-high heat. When hot, using a pastry brush, spread some water in the pan. Place the naan, topping side up, and let it cook till large bubbles start to form (about 1 - 1½ minutes).
- Flip the naan and cook on the other side for another 1 - 1½ minutes. Remove naan and brush with some melted butter or oil. Enjoy warm with your favorite Indian curry.

Steps:
- In a small bowl, add the sugar, warm water, and yeast together. Stir to combine well. The yeast should be activated when it becomes foamy, about 10 minutes. Transfer the flour to a flat surface and make a well in the middle. Add the yeast mixture, yoghurt, salt and oil, knead the dough until the surface becomes smooth and shiny, about 10 minutes. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place (for example: beside the stovetop or warm oven). The dough should double in size, about 1 hour.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll the dough to a 8" circle using a rolling spin.
- Heat up a skillet (cast-iron preferred) over high heat and lightly grease the surface with some oil to avoid the dough from sticking to the skillet. Place the dough on the skillet. When it puffs up and bubbles and burnt spots appear, flip it over and cook the other side. Repeat the same until all dough are done.
- Brush the naan with the melted butter, serve warm.

Steps:
- In a mixing bowl, sieve the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir well and through.
- Take another mixing bowl and put the yoghurt and sugar in it. Beat it until the sugar dissolves. Then add in the water, beat it again. You can use a wooden spoon or a hand whisk.
- Put half of the flour into the yoghurt mixture and keep beating until you get a sticky and pasty mixture.
- Add a tablespoon of oil into the mixture and continue beating.
- Next, add the rest of the flour little by little as you keep mixing. When all the flour is added, you will have a very soft and sticky dough.
- Put the dough onto a floured chopping board. And grease your hands with oil then quickly knead the dough. Place it back into the mixing bowl and cover it with a tea towel. Leave it to rest for at least 20 minutes.
- Then divide the dough into equal 5 portions and shape them into small round balls.
- Take a ball and dust it with a little flour and roll it out thinner about 0.5 cm/0.2-inch thickness. Don't worry about the shape. If you can't get it into a round shape, it's okay.
- Preheat your Tawa/ frying pan at moderately high heat and preheat your grill. Hold your palm about 10cm/ 3.94 inches over the Tawa. If you can feel the heat, it means your Tawa is ready.
- Carefully place the rolled-out dough onto the Tawa and cook at moderate-high heat. When you can see the bread is cooking, turn it around once or twice to ensure heat distribution.
- Once the dough looks changing colour into opaque and there small bubbles on the top of the bread, place the Tawa under the grill and continue cooking the bread until it's puffed up. Sometimes the bread doesn't puff up fully but it has many bubbles. That's okay.
- The naan bread will have some reddish-brown spots. Brush the naan with melted butter and garnish with chopped coriander leaves if you wish.

- Measure the Ingredients and keep it ready - All purpose flour , baking soda , salt , yogurt and canola oil ( mix only 100 grams into the dough and reserve 25 grams to coat the bowl and apply oil over the dough at the end).
- Place the flour into the sifter / fine-meshed strainer and hold the sifter over the mixing bowl. Place all of the dry ingredients - All purpose flour, salt and baking soda into the sifter at once and sift as normal. Repeat the step and sift at-least two to three times ( sifting the flour helps to remove any small lumps and to distribute them better).
- To the sifted dry ingredient, add only 100 grams ( 1/2 cup) of oil and mix roughly using your hands , lastly add the yogurt to the flour and give the dough a good mix with your hands; if most of it sticks together (dough starts to come together), then you can stop ( make sure any dry bits at the bottom of the bowl is incorporate ). Note - dough will be a loose dough and not like a usual roti / chappati dough).
- Now grease a large bowl with one tablespoon oil ( the dough will rise three times its original size, so make sure to use a big bowl ) and then place the prepared dough into the bowl and smear one tablespoon of oil on the top of the dough. Cover the bowl with the clear wrap only ( do not use a damp cloth to cover it) . Leave the dough to rise in a warm area ( prefer to leave it inside the oven with the lights on ). Let the dough rest for at-least three to four hours.

- In a large bowl, stir in together the self-rising flour with the Greek yogurt until mostly homogeneous. If you want, mix in salt as well. SEE PIC.1
- Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface. Using your hands, knead naan dough, adding more flour little by little as needed or just until the dough comes together and is not sticky anymore. Then shape that smooth dough into a ball. This process takes about 5 minutes. SEE PIC.2
- Divide that large dough ball into 8 smaller equal parts. Using a floured rolling pin, roll dough out over a floured surface, forming 5-6 inch long flat breads (SEE PIC.3). They must be thin so they can rise/puff up a little when cooking. By the time you roll out all 8 pieces, it is time to cook them. About 10-15 minutes have already passed. Don’t let them sit around for longer, otherwise they may not puff up as much and may become denser.
- As soon as you finish rolling out the flat breads in an oblong shape, heat a large cast iron skillet (or griddle if you want grill marks) over medium-high heat and then cook each naan for about 2 minutes per side or until cooked through. They will puff up a little! It will take longer to cook if you use a griddle.

- In a large bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Add the yogurt. With a spoon, stir to combine, pressing the yogurt into the dry ingredients. Once it seems that you can't moisten the flour further, sprinkle 2 tablespoons water over the top (if you are using regular yogurt or your yogurt is on the thinner side and it doesn't seem like your dough is crumbly but not dry, you may not need the water at all). Depending upon how thick or thin your yogurt is, you may need more water. If so, add additional water 1 tablespoon at a time, stirring thoroughly between each addition, until the flour-yogurt mixture forms big clumps. Once you’ve mixed as best as you can with a spoon, use your hands to squeeze the dough together in a ball.
- Knead the dough in the bowl for 1 to 2 minutes, until it feels fairly smooth and cohesive. Cover the bowl with a towel and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. (The naan won't rise; this step is to relax the gluten in the flour and let the wet/dry ingredients fully incorporate so that your naan is tender.)
- Prepare the butter (or garlic butter): During the last 10 minutes of the dough’s resting, melt the butter in a small pot over medium heat. Once melted, add the garlic and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, just until fragrant. Remove the pan from heat. If you prefer not to make garlic butter, simply omit the garlic and melt the butter on the stove or in the microwave.
