A delicious 'No-Fail' Creamy Potato Bake Recipe

6 potatoes, peeled and sliced
4 bacon rashers, diced
1 cup sour cream
1 cup thickened cream
1 1/2 cups tasty cheese, grated
2 tablespoons garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C for 15 minutes.
  • Boil the potatoes on the stove for 10 minutes to soften. This helps to ensure you have beautifully cooked potatoes when serving.
  • While potatoes are boiling, fry the bacon in a pan with olive oil until the bacon is nice and crispy.
  • Place garlic, parsley, cream, sour cream, bacon and 1 cup of cheese into a bowl and mix to combine.
  • Drain potatoes and add to the bowl, mix to coat.
  • Place the potato mixture into an ovenproof casserole dish. Not in layers, allow this dish to be rustic.
  • Sprinkle top with remaining grated cheese and bake until the cheese is golden brown.

  • peel and slice potatoes. arrange in layers in casserole dish. chop onion and bacon and layer on top. pour in cream and bake on 190 degrees for about 1 hour. place shredded tasty cheese on top about ten minutes before removing from oven.
  • you can change the taste dramatically if using garlic instead of bacon and onion. or just make it on its own. Either way this is great with steak and salad or veges.
  • I make a baking dish full for my family of five and there is no leftovers.

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine cream, butter and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat until butter is melted. Place potatoes in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish; pour cream mixture over potatoes. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese., Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 45-55 minutes or until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.

This is one of the best pound cakes I've ever tasted. It's simple to make, starting with a store bought mix. I often take one to work where it quickly disappears. I also use this recipe at Christmas time to make 6 small loaves for gifts, which take about 15 minutes less.

½ cup butter
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract
⅔ cup water
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and lemon extract. Beat in water and sour cream. Beat in the cake mix and flour. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.

After searching Zaar I couldn't find a recipe like this. This recipe is a huge hit at our house. It has a smooth creamy texture with the flavours enhanced by the garlic. We serve it with all types of meat including fish.

5 -6 medium potatoes
250 ml fresh cream
2 cups grated cheese (we use cheddar)
2 garlic cloves, crushed (optional) or 2 teaspoons minced garlic (optional)
125 g diced bacon or 125 g ham
1 small onion, thinly sliced, approx 40 mm

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Peel and slice potatoes approx 5mm wide and place them in a greased casserole dish alternating layers of onion and diced ham/bacon.
  • Sprinkle grated cheese over the top.
  • Mix the garlic and the cream together and pour over the top.
  • Cook in oven with lid on for 1 hour or until potatoes have softened.
  • Remove lid and return to oven for 15-20 minutes or until cheese has turned golden brown.
  • IMPORTANT: Leave to sit for approx 15 minutes before serving.
