MONTREAL SPICY GARLIC SHRIMP

Montreal Spicy Garlic Shrimp image

Just found this recipe and cannot wait to try it. The difference is the addition of Montreal seasoning paired with the usual garlic and lemon. I just love the extra shot of flavor this seasoning gives to dishes and I use it real often. Original recipe courtesy of Rachael Ray.

SPICY GARLIC SHRIMP

Spicy Garlic Shrimp image

This is my favorite shrimp recipe that my family makes, and I think it may have originally been from Rachael Ray. You can have it over noodles, over rice or as a side dish to a steak. I usually cook it in a pan, but you can also put it on skewers and grill it. It's just a really good way to have shrimp!

Provided by Chef Acosta

Categories     Egg Free

Time 9m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

24 jumbo shrimp, raw, peeled and de-veined
2 teaspoons McCormick's Montreal Brand steak seasoning
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 lemon, juice of
lemon wedge, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  • In a bowl, combine the shrimp with the crushed red pepper, Montreal steak seasoning and salt and pepper.
  • Saute the garlic in the pan until it's a pale golden color, then add the shrimp.
  • Cook the shrimp until just pink, about 3 minutes. (Cooking time may be longer if not all the shrimp are in contact with the pan. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp or it will be rubbery!).
  • When the shrimp is done, remove the pan from the heat and add the lemon juice. Enjoy!

Categories     Very Low Carbs

Time 1h25m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup kosher salt
6 tablespoons sugar
2 quarts water
3 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
2 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
2 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 lbs large shrimp, brined for 20-25 min

Steps:

  • Prepare brining solution and brine shrimp for 20-25 minutes -- remove shrimp feet and devein with shells left on (this isn't absolutely necessary but it does seem to result in moister grilled shrimp), rinse and dry.
  • Using mortar& pestle smash garlic and salt into a smooth paste.
  • Add cayenne and paprika and mix well.
  • Add olive oil and lemon to form a thin paste.
  • (NOTE: Make sure the paste isn't too loose or it will not cling to the shrimp.) Toss shrimp with paste until evenly coated.
  • (This mixture can be covered and refrigerated for up to an hour before grilling).
  • Grill until shells are bright pink- 2-3 minutes per side.

SPICY GARLIC SHRIMP

Spicy Garlic Shrimp image

My wife didn't like shrimp until we made this recipe. Now she loves it, and especially when we make it like this.

Provided by TJW2725

Categories     < 15 Mins

Time 12m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

24 medium shrimp, peeled, deveined
4 garlic cloves, pressed
3 whole chiles de arbol
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, finely chopped (optional)
1/2 glass white wine
1/2 lemon, juice and zest of

Steps:

  • Melt the butter in a skillet over medium high heat, with the olive oil.
  • Add garlic and the de arbol peppers (you can use any dried spicy pepper, like thai, bird's eye, pequin, etc -- ).
  • If you like it milder, do not break open the chiles, if you like it hot, break 'em up, I do!
  • Before the garlic starts to brown, add the shrimp and cook until no longer pink, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the wine and reduce it for about 3 minutes or until the shrimp are cooked.
  • Add the lemon zest and juice, and add the cilantro, stir, and serve immediately.
  • You can serve it with fettucini pasta, or on a bed of rucola, for example.
  • Sometimes we just make a salad with it and use french bread to mop up the goodness.
