I received this recipe in a recipe-swap-by-mail about 20 years ago, and am finally posting it here for safekeeping. Prep time given does not include chilling time.

Steps:
- Melt chocolate pieces with sugar and milk in double boiler, stirring occasionally. Cool.
- Beat in egg yolks, one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
- In separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into chocolate mixture.
- Pour into cooled pie shell. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
- If desired, garnish with whipped cream and sprinkle with roasted chopped almonds.

Grease a 9" pie pan. Spread the crust mixture in the pan. Bake at 300° for 1 hour. For filling, melt the chocolate chips with the sugar and milk in a double boiler. Add 3 egg yolks, one at a time and beat. Add vanilla. In a separate bowl, beat 3 egg whites until stiff. Fold the beaten egg whites into the slightly cooled chocolate mixture.

4 egg whites. Whipped cream. Bake pie shell at 425 degrees for 8 minutes. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate morsels, sugar, and milk. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. To this, add egg yolks, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into chocolate mixture. Turn into baked pie shell.
