1 teaspoon Spice Islands Pure Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 cups pecans
1 (9-inch) unbaked or frozen deep-dish pie crust

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix corn syrup, eggs, sugar, butter, and vanilla using a spoon. Stir in pecans. Pour filling into pie crust.
  • Bake on center rack of oven until center reaches 200°F and springs back when tapped lightly, about 55 to 70 minutes.

1 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups whole pecans
1 unbaked deep dish 9-inch pie crust (see note)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the pie crust on a baking sheet for easy handling and cleanup.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the eggs, corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla until thoroughly combined. Add the pecans and stir.
  • Pour the mixture into the pie crust. Place the baking sheet with the filled pie crust into the preheated oven. Bake for about 1 hour, or until the center of the pie reaches 200°F as measured with an instant read thermometer.
  • Remove from the oven and cool for 2 hours before serving.

Steps:

  • Beat eggs, add sugar and karo and beat until well mixed.
  • Add butter, salt, vanilla and pecans.
  • Pour into unbaked pie crust.
  • Arrange whole pecan halves on top of pie.
  • Bake for 45 minutes in oven that has been preheated to 300 degrees.

I had never had this until recently. I had always made my pecan pies with Karo Syrup; however, this is a different recipe I found using honey instead of Karo and it gives this pie a decidedly different taste than the one I'm used to making.

1 (9 inch) pie crusts, unbaked
1 cup honey
1/2 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups pecan halves

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the honey, sugar and eggs. Beat well.
  • Add the vanilla extract and melted butter and mix well.
  • Slowly, by hand, stir in the pecans.
  • Pour into the unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.
  • Filling will be firmer around the edges, but softer in the middle.
  • If your crust starts to get too brown, cover the edges with foil to prevent them from burning (or use one of those cute pie crust ring things if you have one, because they work really well).
  • Allow to cool completely before slicing.

1 9 inch pre-packaged unbaked pie shell
1 cup maple syrup
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon molasses
4 tablespoons butter, unsalted, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
1 1/2 - 2 cups pecans, toasted and chopped

Steps:

  • Adjust oven rack to the lowest position and preheat oven to 450 degrees. Toast pecans in a large skillet for 3-5 minutes and set aside. Stir constantly, they can burn easily. Place pie shell in a pie baking dish and put in the refrigerator while preparing the filling. Heat maple syrup, light brown sugar, cream, and molasses in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves (approximately 3 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Whisk butter and salt into mixture until well combined. Whisk in egg yolks until incorporated. Put pecan in the bottom of the pie shell and carefully pour filling over the nuts. Place pie in hot oven and immediately reduce oven temperature to 325 degrees. Bake until filling is set and center jiggles slightly (45-60 minutes). Cool pie on a baking rack for 1 hour, then refrigerate until set (3 hours). Bring to room temperature before serving.
