2 handfuls kale
½ avocado
½ lime, juice only
large handful frozen pineapple chunks
medium-sized chunk ginger
1 tbsp cashew nuts
1 banana, optional

Steps:

  • Put all of the ingredients into a bullet or smoothie maker, add a large splash of water and blitz. Add more water until you have the desired consistency.

1/2 cup (120 ml) water
1 cup green grapes
1 orange, peeled, halved
1/2 ripe Bartlett pear, seeded, halved
1 small to medium size banana, peeled
1 cup (70 g) kale
2 cups (480 ml) ice cubes

Steps:

  • 1.Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid. 2.Select Variable 1. 3.Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High. 4.Blend for 45 seconds or until desired consistency is reached This recipe has been written for the Vitamix 5200 with Standard 64-ounce container. If you are using a different Vitamix machine or container size, you may need to make adjustments to the Variable Speed, processing time, and/or ingredient quantities.

When making a smoothie like this, I use recipes as a guide to proportions. You don't have to be super precise. If you add a few more grapes, don't worry about it. In the end it's all going to be juice! Don't be afraid to adjust the flavors adding more or less of what you like best. Drink up and stay healthy!

1 cup peeled and coarsely chopped cucumber
1 cup Tuscan kale, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup to 1 cup green grapes, frozen
1/3 cup ice
1/4 cup picked fresh parsley leaves
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 green apple, cored and coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • Add the cucumber, kale, grapes, ice, parsley, lemon juice and apples to the carafe of a powerful blender. Blend on high until everything is homogeneous and smooth, adding 1 to 2 cups water as needed.
  • Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

1 cup packed chopped kale (stems removed)
1 cup frozen green grapes
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon ground flaxseed

Steps:

  • Put the pineapple, kale, frozen grapes, lemon juice, ginger and flaxseed into a blender. Blend on high until very smooth, turning off the blender and pushing down on the ingredients with a spatula or wooden spoon as needed to help the blending process. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water if needed to adjust consistency. Pour into a glass and garnish with a pineapple wedge.
