I found this recipe on the Smitten Kitchen blog, and I wanted to post it here, because it is so easy (you don't need a hand mixer and it is a one-bowl recipe), and it is seriously one of the best banana breads I have ever tasted. The title is great too! *Notes*: I did add the baking powder from the original recipe, I also added measurements to the salt, cloves, and bananas, and the original recipe called for an 8x4-inch pan. I usually double the recipe, use unsweetened applesauce for half of the butter, and I have used Cruzan vanilla rum for the alcohol part before. This bread is very good. VERY good. Number Of Ingredients 13

3 -4 bananas, smashed (about 1-1/2 cups)
1/3 cup salted butter, melted (5 1/3 Tablespoons)
3/4-1 cup brown sugar, not packed (I use 3/4 cup)
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon Bourbon (optional)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 cups flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F
  • With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix in the sugar, egg, vanilla, and bourbon, then the spices.
  • Sprinkle the baking soda, baking powder, and salt over the mixture and mix inches
  • Add the flour last; mix until all the flour is incorporated.
  • Pour mixture into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Bake for one hour, or until a tester comes out clean.
  • Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely before slicing.

After years of making my great-grandmother's banana bread - and receiving rave reviews - I thought it was time to put my own spin on the recipe and make it a bit healthier. BTW, the husband LOVED this bread. What he doesn't know only makes him healthier, ha. ;)

2 bananas, mashed
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon unsweetened applesauce

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Mash the bananas and sugar until combined.
  • Sift and add the flours, soda and salt.
  • Stir in the oil and applesauce, and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Take ordinary canned beans and "Jack" them up. This is a "grown up" twist on baked beans. Great for a pot luck or cookout.

1 (31 ounce) can bush's baked beans
1 (15 ounce) can butter beans
1/2 cup strong coffee
1/2 cup jack daniels Bourbon
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar (optional)
3 tablespoons molasses
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
0.5 (8 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce (hickory)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on high for 2 hours.
  • Uncover and cook to desired consistency.

1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 bananas, finely crushed (for serious and extreme moist and delicious, try 4 bananas)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)

Steps:

  • Remove odd pots and pans from oven.
  • Preheat oven to 350º / 180º.
  • Cream together butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs and crushed bananas.
  • Combine well.
  • Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla.
  • Mix just until combined. Do not overmix.
  • Pour into greased and floured loaf pan.
  • Bake at 350º / 180º for 55 minutes.
  • Keeps well, refrigerated.
