ICY FRUIT SALAD
I hated this salad when I was growing up: It was pink, had too many ingredients in it, and my very Southern family loved it - three good reasons to abstain. During Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, my mother would always go back for seconds, chiming, "You don't know what you're missing." But I knew, all right - an unappealing mishmash of canned fruit and mayonnaise. No thanks. However, as I've grown older my family's "Southern classics" don't embarrass me as much. I've actually eaten this salad many times as an adult, and though I'm not saying it's my favorite, sometimes I need seconds to be sure.

Steps:
- Combine Cool Whip, mayonnaise, cream cheese, and sugar in a large bowl. Beat until thoroughly blended. Stir in other ingredients. Chill at least two hours before serving. Serve on a bed of lettuce with tea biscuits (or some other salty cookie). Or pack in tupperware for a summer picnic.
MOM'S FROZEN FRUIT SALAD
This fruit salad is a family favorite handed down to me by my mother, Marjorie V. Hutchinson.

Steps:
- Beat cream cheese in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer until fluffy. Add sour cream, sugar, and salt; mix well.
- Drain pineapple, reserving the juice. Dip banana pieces into the pineapple juice and place in a bowl. Add cherries, oranges, and the pineapple.
- Add marshmallows to the cream cheese mixture; fold in the fruit mixture. Grease a fluted tube pan with cooking spray and turn the fruit salad out into the pan.
- Cover and freeze salad for at least 8 hours. Unmold and let stand at room temperature at least 10 minutes before cutting.

MAGNOLIA ROOM FROZEN FRUIT SALAD
This recipe came out of the Alanta Journal food section. I made it lots when we lived in Harlem, Georgia. Good way to get fruit in husbands and children. Very refreshing on a steamy Georgia day.

Steps:
- Whip cream cheese; add powered sugar and mix well.
- Add vanilla and blend in salad dressing.
- Fold in all the fruit and marshmallows.
- Whip cream and fold into fruit mixture.
- Ladle into 5 oz. serving dishes. I used small jelly jars, so I could freeze them. Freeze at least overnite.
- Defrost about 15 minutes before serving.

A lovely, delicious frozen salad that can also be a beautiful dessert.My family loved this dessert.I made it for parties. I got the recipe from a jell-O book along time ago.

Steps:
- Dissolve Jell-O Gelatin and salt in boiling water. Drain pineapple, meas uring syrup; add water to make 1/2 cup, if necessary. Stir into gelatin with lemon juice.
- Blend in mayon naise. Chill until very thick. Whip cream. Fold fruits, nuts, and whipped cream into gelatin.
- Pour into 2 freezing trays or a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Freeze until firm-at least 3 to 4 hours.
- To serve, cut in squares or slices. Makes about 4 1/2 cups, or 8 servings.
- NOTE: Other fruits that may be used in the Frozen Fruit Salad are: drained diced orange sections, drained can ned crushed pineapple, or drained canned fruit cocktail. using a total of about 2 cups fruit.

FRUIT SALAD (COMBINATION OF FRESH, CANNED, AND FROZEN FRUITS)
This is a delightful fruit salad that always draws rave reviews anytime I fix it at home or take it to showers or carry-ins. The "secret ingredient" is a box of instant French Vanilla pudding! You really can substitute fresh fruits for canned or frozen or visa versa, so I'm going to list the combination that I usually use. Any time I use canned fruits, I use them in their own juice, and you can substitute sugar free pudding as well.
