Choose A Dye. As you are evaluating your carpet, you should look for spots and stains. You will want to choose a dye that is dark enough to cover any stains that you find.
Clean The Carpet. Dirt and residue on your carpet can result in uneven colors and colors that don't stick. For this reason, you will want to make sure that your carpet is thoroughly cleaned.
Allow It To Dry. You will want to let the carpet dry some before moving on to the next steps. If you want to cut down on the drying time, use towels to press the water out.
Test The Dye. This step is important to be sure that you will love the finished product. Test the dye in an inconspicuous corner and let it dry while you complete the next step.
