1 apple (any variety, cut into 2-inch chunks)
3 carrots (ends trimmed, cut into 2-inch chunks)
1 orange (juiced)
1 2-inch piece fresh ginger (peeled)
1 cup cold water

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in the pitcher of a high-powered blender, and blend until smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Use the tamper if needed.
  • Pour the smoothie into glasses and enjoy right away, or chill in the fridge to enjoy later.

Be sure to drink your juice as soon as possible after it's made for the most nutritious bang. Adding chia seeds helps replace the fiber that is lost in the juicing process.

2 medium beets, trimmed and scrubbed
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and cored
3 medium carrots, peeled
1 tablespoon chia seeds, optional

  • Juice, in this order, the beets, apples and carrots, following your juicer's specific settings for each. Stir in the chia seeds if using and let soak for 5 minutes. Serve the juice immediately over ice, if desired.

A simple recipe for making juice without a juicer. Plenty of health benefits and a delicious flavor come from carrots, apple, beets, and ginger.

1 medium beet ((rinsed, lightly peeled and quartered))
1 medium apple ((peeled, cored and quartered))
1 Tbsp size piece of fresh ginger ((skin removed))
3 whole carrots ((rinsed and peeled))
Unfiltered apple juice ((optional))

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth, adding a splash of apple juice if needed to get it moving. I probably added about 1/4 cup (amount as original recipe is written).
  • Then, place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour the juice over. Use a rubber spatula to press the pulp down and squeeze all of the juice out. Let stand for 5 minutes so you get most of the juice.
  • Discard pulp and pour your juice into a serving glass. Drink immediately or chill for a bit. Will keep in the fridge for a day or so, but will taste best when fresh.
