Steps:
- Peel the potatoes and cut into chunks. Start them boiling.
- Meanwhile, start green beans boiling.
- Meanwhile, brown ground beef.
- Slice onions and spray casserole dish with non-stick coating.
- Place the browned ground beef in the bottom of the casserole dish. Cover with half of the cheese (tearing cheese slices into chunks if using) and half of the sliced onions.
- Add green beans next, and repeat cheese & onion layers.
- Drain potatoes, add milk and butter in your preferred amounts and mash. I use about 2 tablespoons butter & add milk until the consitancy is right.
- Spread mashed potatoes over top of casserole.
- Sprinkle with additional cheese and breadcrumbs followed by paprika if desired, otherwise just with paprika.
- Bake for about 20-30 minutes in a 400 oven until top of mashed potatoes is golden and cheese is well melted. May be prepared in advance, refridgerated and baked later.
- Hints: if this is too bland, some suggestions to spice it up: try adding garlic, worcestershire sauce and other spices when browning beef. Add paprika and garlic powder to the potatoes while mixing. Use jalapeno cheese.

Steps:
- In a cast-iron skillet, cook the ground beef on medium heat until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the ground beef and drain grease, leaving 1 Tbsp of the grease in the pan to saute the vegetables in.
- In the same skillet, cook the chopped onions over medium heat until they start to soften, about 3 minutes. Add the mushrooms to the pan and cook for 2 minutes more.
- Add in the green beans, garlic, and chicken broth, cook for 2-3 more minutes until the green beans and the other vegetables are softened.
- Turn the heat down to medium-low add the cream cheese and then sour cream.
- Add the beef back into the pan along with the salt, pepper, dried thyme, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently to combine.
- Sprinkle with the cheddar cheese over the top.
- Place the entire dish in the oven and broil for 2 minutes until the cheese is browned and melted. Or, add a lid to skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts. Using the stovetop, your cheddar cheese won't be crispy, but it will melt.

Steps:
- Mom also likes to throw in her favorite seasonings too, if desired, to the hamburger mixture as it browns. Brown hamburger with the onion.
- In a casserole dish, combine hamburger/onion mixture, tomato soup and green beans.
- Mix together .
- Top the whole dish with prepared mashed potatoes.
- Bake uncovered for 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- (Note: Mom actually never used instant potatoes. She made extra real mashed potatoes for dinner a day ahead and used those planned-ahead mashed potatoes).
NANA'S HAMBURGER POTATO HOT DISH
One dish meal that is really good. I made this for a meal while visiting my daughter & her family in Germany. Everyone loved it, even my 2 & 4 year old Granddaughters!

Steps:
- Brown hamburger, chopped onion and pepper together in a skillet.
- Wash and slice the potatoes with the skins left on.
- Stir together all the soups & corn in a large casserole pan.
- Add browned hamburger and potatoes to the soup mixture and stir well.
- Bake at 375 degree oven for approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
- Stir a couple times during baking.
- I usually have it covered the 1st hour, then leave it uncovered the remaining time.
- This is one of those recipes that I never had a recipe to follow, I just knew the ingredients from my mom making it when I was a child. The hamburger amount could vary from 1 to 2 lbs & the potatoes could be anywhere from 4-8 depending how much you want to make. Also could add an extra can of cream corn if making a larger amount of hamburger & potatoes.
- I have also made it in my crock pot; starting out the 1st hour in the oven, then finishing it off in the crockpot on low for 3-4 hours because I brought it to work for a potluck.

GROUND BEEF ONE POT MEAL
All the ingredients are generally in every one's pantry, and this recipe is so simple and so good, it is a hit with everyone that tries it. It can be spiced up or kept simple with salt and pepper - depends on your taste buds. It can be easily changed to a different meat, but for me, this is my favorite.

Steps:
- Place ground beef in a pot that is large enough to hold all the ingredients and to cook the noodles with the other ingredients. Lightly cover the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes, basil and Italian spice mix. Brown the ground beef. Cut the jalapeno length wise, remove seeds and white ribs. Mince the jalapeno - so no one gets a big chunk of jalapeno when they bite into the meal. After the meat is browned, add the jalapeno, tomato and 1 can of water to rinse out tomato can. Stir well. (Make sure the liquid is adequate to cook the noodles.) Cook this mixture for about 15 minutes to get the spices well mixed with the tomatoes. Add the frozen vegetable - bring up to boil. Then add the egg noodles - cook until tender, about 7 or 8 minutes after the mixture comes to boil after adding the noodles. When noodles are cooked, cover and remove from heat. Allow the meal to sit for 5 - 10 minutes, covered and off heat. (I haven't given amounts for seasoning because that is a personal choice - season to taste. I like my meal seasoned as I said above - cover the top of the ground meat lightly with all of the spices before browning. Then as heat comes up, I break up the ground meat and mix in the spices.).
