  • Find out if you have the flat sandwich inserts for the George Foreman Grill. If so, then place them in. Plug in the grill and let it preheat until heated. If your grill does not come with inserts, you can still use it.
  • Do not butter the bread, for the low-fat version. Add the cheese between the two slices of bread and place straight on the preheated grill. Cover and allow to cook. Other ideas for grilled sandwich variations include: Add ham with the cheese to give more taste to your sandwich. Vary the breads and cheeses to make it more interesting. For example, try goat cheese on whole grain bread. Place a thin slice of tomato on the cheese, and grill it together. Be careful not to burn your mouth, though, since cooked tomatoes become very hot due to their high percentage of water. Add fruits or veggies. Examples are grilled goat cheese with apples or the classic grilled cheese with tomato.
  • Since the grill is actually cooking on both sides, it doesn't take very long for the toast to brown and the cheese to melt. Check on it in about a minute; it might take a couple of minutes but keep checking to avoid burning. 2 TBS of butter at room temperature
4 slices of American cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat your Foreman Grill for at least 5 minutes. Use the medium-high setting if your grill has that option.
  • Butter one face of all 4 slices of bread. Turn 2 slices of bread over so that the unbuttered side faces up. Place the cheese on these slices of bread, 2 slices of cheese per sandwich. Place the other piece of bread on top of the cheese with the buttered side facing up.
  • Place the assembled sandwiches on the grill and close the lid. Cook for up to 3 minutes until golden brown with light grill marks and the cheese has melted.
  • Cut the sandwiches in half and serve with potato chips or French fries with ketchup and a pickle wedge.

4 submarine rolls, halved
1/3 cup soft butter (can use more butter if desired)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 (8 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, well drained (can use fresh sauteed sliced mushrooms)
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, seeded and sliced into strips
seasoning salt (to taste) or white salt & freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
1 lb thinly sliced cooked beef
8 slices mozzarella cheese or 8 provolone cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat both sides of the electric griddle to medium-high heat.
  • In a small bowl mix the soft butter with garlic powder.
  • Lightly butter all of the roll halves.
  • Place on the grill buttered side down and toast until lightly browned; remove and place on a plate/s, then place 2 slices of cheese over 4 bread halves; set aside.
  • On one half of the grill place the mushrooms, onion slices and bell pepper, then season lightly with seasoned salt and black pepper.
  • On the other side of the grill place the roast beef then season the beef lightly with freshly ground black pepper if desired.
  • Cook stirring each group separately as they cook.
  • When the veggies are tender and the beef is hot divide the hot beef onto the cheese slices then top with the veggies.
  • Top with the remaining bread halves.

2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 slice Canadian bacon
1 slice tomatoes
1 slice cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a small bowl scramble the eggs and add a small amount of milk, probably less than the 1/4 that I listed.
  • Using a non-stick spray, coat a square tupperware container. About the size of a sandwich.
  • Place the egg mixture into the square tupperware container. Set in the microwave for 1 minute.
  • Once egg is cooked take out and flip over onto one of the bread slices.
  • Next place your meat, cheese, and tomato ontop of the egg. Put other bread slice on and set on the grill until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.

I decided to experiment one day when cooking some burgers up for lunch - and was VERY pleased with the result! Now, when I make these, I don't measure out the spices - I just put dashes of what I know we like. Therefore, these measurements are estimates - adjust according to your taste buds. Also, you may adjust the size of your patties - which may change serving size a bit. This recipe is flexible! :) Hope you like it too!

1 lb ground turkey or 1 lb extra lean ground beef
3 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
5 dashes TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce
2 1/2 ounces Laughing Cow light swiss cheese (2 1/2 wedges)
8 slices whole grain bread (45 calories or less)

Steps:

  • Mix meat using a fork with all of the ingredients except the cheese and bread.
  • (I wear plastic food safety gloves) Form into 10 patties (pat to make thin).
  • Put 5 of the patties onto a heated (on max) george foreman grill.
  • Put 1/2 a cheese wedge on top of each patty, and top with additional patties. Close grill lid and let cook for 6 minutes (flipping if you like halfway through.).
  • Put onto bread spread with your favorite condiments. Add veggies if you prefer and enjoy!

Steps:

  • Chop the orange into pieces.
  • Combine all ingredients in a Zip-Loc bag.
