GRANDMA AMICO'S BUTTERMILK SUGAR COOKIE CUTOUTS
Grandma Amico made the best buttermilk sugar cookies. These cookies are soft and fluffy and a family tradition for us. Not just for the holidays, but whenever we get the urge for cookies, we make these. I will also leave dough in the fridge for up to a week and make cookies whenever I like. Dough freezes well for later cookie baking.

Steps:
- Mix sugar, shortening, buttermilk, and egg together in the bowl of an electric stand mixer (such as KitchenAid®) until creamy.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla extract, and salt in a bowl. Beat into sugar mixture, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Leave dough to set in a refrigerator for at least 2 hours to overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- Roll dough out on a lightly floured work surface using a lightly floured rolling pin to desired thickness. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven until bottoms begin to lightly brown, 8 to 12 minutes. Let cookies cool completely on wax paper or a wire rack, 15 to 30 minutes.
- Combine confectioners' sugar and milk in a bowl. Mix into a paste, adding more sugar or milk as needed. Spread frosting thinly onto cooled cookies and cover with sprinkles.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES - OUR AMISH GRANDMOTHER (GROSSMUMMY)'S RE
These are SO soft, SO moist....The trick is pulling them out of the oven before they are completely done...JUST as they have started to turn golden brown. This keeps them moist and chewy! MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm Enjoy this PA Dutch version of an old classic!

- Beat in eggs.
- Gradually add flour mixture.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop by heaping teaspoons, about 2" apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake @ 375 for 7-9 minutes, or until barely lightly browned. (Removing them while they still appear unbaked is the trick to having really soft/chewy/moist cookies, so experiment with it!)

GRANDMA'S RAISIN FILLED COOKIES
My Grandmother always had these on hand whenever we would come to visit. We always gobbled them up. I never truly appreciated them tho, until I finally was given the recipe and realized the TIME that went into them. I recommend making the filling one day and the cookies the next.. just saves you that much time. I also like to just underbake a hair... I'll probably be strung and hung for sharing her recipe..:)

GRANDMA'S CHRISTMAS COOKIE
My Grandmother used to make these for my mother and me for years. We took it for granted that she would always be here to do so. My mother and I played with the ingredients until we think we have duplicated Grandma's recipe. The light coating of powdered sugar makes these stand out from the other cookies in the tin.

GRANDMA'S OLD FASHIONED OATMEAL COOKIES

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F - you will need 3 baking sheets lined with parchment paper (again the parchment keeps the cookie from burning and makes clean up faster).
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
- Beat together with mixer at low speed - butter and sugar until the sugar granules are not visible. Increase speed and beat 1 minute longer, scrape sides as needed and add egg, beat another 30 seconds. Add flour mixture 1/3 at a time and incorporate well over med speed until mixture is smooth. Add oatmeal and stir into the dough using your rubber spatula.
- Divide into 24 equal portions and bake for 13 to 16 minutes placing only one cookie sheet in the oven at a time and rotating the cookie sheet half way through your cooking time -- these are the best and the thinnest cookies and very crispy.

GRANDMA'S AMISH BREAD
This bread is from my Amish Grandma's recipe collection. My favorite times with Grandma were always centered around the kitchen and this was one of my favorites to make with her. I've updated it slightly, since Grandma didn't have electricity to work with, but it still tastes (almost) the same. This is still a family favorite at holiday gatherings and with Easter coming up it'll be a hit!
