These are great for a quick weeknight meal and the kids like them. The filling is also good in taco shells or tortillas.

1 lb lean ground beef
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup salsa
1 teaspoon flour
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
4 -6 sandwich buns
1 cup finely chopped lettuce

Steps:

  • In large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef and onion; drain.
  • Stir in remaining meat mixture ingredients; mix well. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a little water if mixture becomes too thick.
  • Serve mixture in buns with lettuce.

1 pound ground beef
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon sugar
8 hamburger buns, split and toasted
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups shredded lettuce

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes, breaking it into crumbles; drain. Stir in tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and the next 5 ingredients. Bring to a boil. , Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until thickened, 15-20 minutes. Spoon onto buns; top with cheese and lettuce.
