Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Brown meat in large skillet. Meanwhile, mix potatoes, cream cheese, 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese and the garlic until well blended.
  • Drain meat. Return to skillet; stir in vegetables and gravy. Spoon into 9-inch square baking dish; cover with potato mixture and remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheese.
  • Bake 20 min. or until heated through.

3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups instant mashed potatoes
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°.
  • In a big skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until brown; drain off fat.
  • Stir 1/4 cup flour and dry onion soup mix into the meat.
  • Stir in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, 3/4 cup water, and the ketchup.
  • Cook until heated through, stirring occasionally; taste for seasoning and adjust.

For the Beef Mixture:
1 1/2 pounds Ground Beef
1/2 White Onion (diced into smaller pieces)
1 cup Frozen Peas and Carrots
1/2 cup Frozen Corn
1/4 cup Tomato Paste
2 Tbsp Flour
1 tsp Minced Garlic
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1 tsp Dried Rosemary Leaves
1 tsp Dried Thyme Leaves
1 cup Beef Broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Mashed Potatoes:
3 Large Russet Potatoes (peeled and quartered)
1/2 cup Butter
1/3 cup Milk
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • THEN PREPARE THE MEAT MIXTURE:
  • Then in a large skillet, add the ground beef and the onion. Brown the ground beef and break it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula. Cook until the beef is browned (approximately 5-6 minutes).
  • Drain off any excess grease.
  • Then add in the minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute.
  • Then stir in the flour and tomato paste. Stir well until these ingredients are well combined with the beef mixture.
  • Next add in the broth, frozen vegetables, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, pepper, Rosemary and thyme.
  • Bring this mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • THEN PREPARE THE MASHED POTATOES:
  • Place the potatoes in al large pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil, reduce temperature to low to simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
  • Drain the potatoes and then return to the potatoes to the hot pot.
  • Then add in the butter, milk, salt and pepper. Use an electric mixer to blend the potatoes until they are light and fluffy or use a hand masher to mash them to the consistency that you prefer.
  • THEN PREPARE THE CASSEROLE:
  • Spread the meat mixture on the bottom of the 9X13 baking pan.
  • Then spoon the mashed potatoes on top and spread it to make an even layer on top of the casserole.
  • Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until the casserole is cooked through and the top is slightly brown.
  • *You can broil for 2-3 minutes to brown the top of the potatoes if you prefer.
  • Then let the casserole set for 10-15 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

1 onion, chopped
1 -2 cup vegetables (chopped carrots, corn, peas)
1 1/2-2 lbs potatoes or 3 big potatoes
8 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
seasoning, of choice

Steps:

  • 1 Peel and quarter potatoes, boil in salted water until tender (about 20 minutes).
  • 2 While the potatoes are cooking, melt 4 Tablespoons butter (1/2 a stick) in large frying pan.
  • 3 Sauté onions in butter until tender over medium heat (10 mins). If you are adding vegetables, add them according to cooking time. Put any carrots in with the onions. Add corn or peas either at the end of the cooking of the onions, or after the meat has initially cooked.
  • 4 Add ground beef and sauté until no longer pink. Add salt and pepper. Add worcesterchire sauce. Add half a cup of beef broth and cook, uncovered, over low heat for 10 minutes, adding more beef broth as necessary to keep moist.
  • 5 Mash potatoes in bowl with remainder of butter, season to taste.
  • 6 Place beef and onions in baking dish. Distribute mashed potatoes on top. Rough up with a fork so that there are peaks that will brown nicely. You can use the fork to make some designs in the potatoes as well.
  • 7 Cook in 400 degree oven until bubbling and brown (about 30 minutes). Broil for last few minutes if necessary to brown.

5 lbs potatoes, washed and peeled
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk (or as much as needed to make creamy mashed potatoes)
2 lbs ground beef
1 onion, peeled and chopped
1 cup mixed vegetables
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
1/8 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 cups cheddar cheese
salt
pepper
garlic powder

Steps:

  • Cut the potatoes in chunks and boil until tender; reserve half of the chunks and mash the rest with a little butter and milk.
  • while the potatoes are cooking, cook ground beef and onions over medium-medium high heat.
  • when the meat is cooked, drain the fat.

  • take some of the potato chunks and make a bed of them in a buttered casserole dish.

2 onions, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 lbs ground veal (or lean beef)
2 carrots, minced
1/2 red pepper, minced
1/2 celery rib, minced
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
3 -4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
ground pepper (to taste)
3 tablespoons flour (or more if needed)
1 cup stock (chicken or beef)
1/2 cup red wine
8 cups potatoes, diced (I use 5 large russet potatoes)
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup milk (or cream)
salt and pepper (to taste)
1 (12 ounce) can corn niblets
1 (14 ounce) can peas

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Heat oil in large frying pan and saute the onions until softened, then add the garlic and heat for 2 minutes.
  • Raise the heat and add the ground beef. Cook quickly to brown, stirring occasionally. Once browned, add the carrots, celery, and pepper, paprika, garlic powder, worchestershire sauce, salt & pepper and cook several minutes.
  • Stir in the flour, then add the stock and wine. Heat until simmering and thickened.
  • Transfer the meat to a large casserole dish and cook in the oven for about 1 hour. Check the consistency from time to time and add a little more stock or wine if required. The meat mixture should be quite thick but not dry. Taste and season with more salt and pepper if required.
  • While meat is cooking, make the mashed potatoes. Cook the peeled potatoes in salted water for approximately 15 - 20 min or until tender. Drain well and mash with a potato masher until smooth. Add the butter and milk. If the mixture is too dry, add milk a little at a time.
  • On top of the meat mixture, spread the peas on half of the casserole and the corn on the other half (or whichever vegetables you prefer). Pipe or spread the potatoes on top of the vegetables.
  • Increase the oven to 400F and cook for 15 - 20 minutes until till golden brown. You can choose to finish it off under the broiler for a few minutes for a really crisp brown topping.
