4 ounces shelf-stable gnocchi
⅓ cup pasta sauce
¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese, or to taste

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook gnocchi in the boiling water until they float to the top, about 3 minutes. Drain.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Spread 1/2 of the pasta sauce on the bottom of a 5-inch round casserole dish. Layer with gnocchi and spread the remaining pasta sauce on top. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted and bubbling, about 25 minutes.

2 lb gnocchi
1/4 cup butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
3-4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 5 oz can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups half & half
3 cups shredded cheese, divided (cheddar or a milder Mexican blend)
coarse salt & freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Prepare gnocchi according to package directions.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium skillet. Add garlic cloves and saute over medium heat for 1-2 minutes (do not brown garlic, turn heat down if necessary). Whisk in flour until thick, cook for another 1-2 minutes, whisking constantly. Slowly add evaporated milk, then half & half, whisking constantly, until no lumps remain and mixture is thickened and bubbling. Stir in 2 cups shredded cheese until incorporated.
  • Place cooked gnocchi in a baking dish. Add cheese mixture and combine thoroughly. Sprinkle remaining cup of shredded cheese over the top. Bake for 30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.

2 Tbsp unsalted butter
2 Tbsp flour
1/4 tsp dry mustard powder
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
2 cups milk
4 oz white cheddar cheese (shredded)
1 lb broccoli florets
4 strips thick-cut bacon (diced)
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
24 oz gnocchi (fresh)

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Add flour and whisk for 2 minutes to toast the flour. Whisk in the mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Cook for 30 seconds more then whisk in the milk. Bring to a boil and turn the heat to low.
  • Cook for 5 minutes, remove from heat and add the white cheddar cheese. Stir until smooth, cover and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Fill a large cast iron skillet halfway with water. Bring to a boil and add the broccoli. Cook for 2 minutes, drain, cool and set aside.
  • To dry the pan, add the bacon. Sauté until crispy then remove to a paper towel-lined plate. Drain all but 2 Tbsp of fat from the pan and add 2 Tbsp butter, Pour in gnocchi and sauté until toasted, about 3 minutes.
  • Add blanched broccoli and sautéed bacon to skillet and toss lightly to coat. Cover with cheese sauce and toss again. Bake skillet in the oven for 20 minutes or until bubbly. Take skillet to the table but warn people about how hot it is! Ouch!

1.5 pounds store-bought gnocchi (about two (350-gram) packages)
1.5 tablespoons olive oil
1 yellow onion (peeled and diced)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
8 ounces cremini mushrooms (sliced (about 1/2 pound or 227 grams))
4 cloves garlic (minced)
pinch salt
pinch freshly ground black pepper
1 cup marinated artichoke hearts (drained and roughly chopped)
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (or to taste)
2.5 cups pasta sauce (use your favourite variety)
1 cup roughly chopped fresh basil (about a big handful)
6 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (pizza mozzarella) (divided (about 1.5 cups))
1 ounce Grated Parmesan cheese
Chopped fresh parsley (garnish to taste (optional))

Steps:

  • Cook gnocchi according to package instructions, just a little short of full cook time. Drain and set aside. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit at this point too.
  • Heat olive oil in a 12-inch heavy oven-safe sauté/deep pan over medium heat on the stovetop.
  • Add onion and cook, stirring often, until softened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Add butter and, once melted, add mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add garlic, stir, and cook for about 1 minute.
  • Add a pinch each of salt and black pepper.
  • Stir in artichoke hearts, cooked gnocchi, crushed red pepper flakes, pasta sauce, basil and 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese (about 2 ounces).
  • Turn off heat and sprinkle over remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.

1 ½ lbs. chicken breast (cubed)
16 ounces gnocchi (1 package)
2 cups marinara sauce (divided)
8 oz whole-milk mozzarella cheese (sliced)
¼ cup parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons torn fresh basil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet. Add in the chicken and cook until golden brown and the inside is no longer pink, about 7-8 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • If the pan is dry, add in another tablespoon of oil. Sautee the gnocchi until golden, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
  • Spread 1/3 of the marinara in the bottom. Top with half of the chicken, then half the mozzarella. Repeat with sauce, chicken, gnocchi, sauce and mozzarella. Top with parmesan.

This French Onion Gnocchi Casserole is a delectable fusion of Italian and French comfort classics in one cheesy and decadent dish.

1 pkg Gnocchi ( or roughly 2 cups)
5 tbsp Unsalted butter
3 tbsp All-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups Whole milk
1 large Yellow onion, sliced thinly
2 tsp Granulated sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire
1 1/2 tsp Chopped fresh thyme + more for garnish
1/2 cup Beef broth
1 cup Shredded mozzarella
Kosher salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Spray an 8X8 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large non-stick skillet melt 2 tbsp butter over medium-hight heat. Once melted, add the onions. Let the onions cook four about two minutes. Next, add in the granulated sugar, Worcestershire, thyme, salt and pepper. Stir and continue to cook for a few minutes.
  • Pour in the beef broth into the skillet and start scraping the bottom of the skillet making sure everything is well combined and turn the heat to simmer.
  • Stir the oninos to keep them from burning at the bottom of the skillet until golden brown; about 20 minutes. Once cooked, set aside.
  • While the onions cook, bring a large pot full of water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions. Once the gnocchi has cooked, drain through a colander and add the cooked gnocchi to the prepared baking dish.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the remaning tbsp of butter over medium heat. Add in flour and whisk until a roux forms; about a minute. Pour in the milk and whisk until thickened about five minutes. Add in the salt and pepper to taste.
  • To assemble the casserole, evenly place the onions over the gnocchi. Next, pour the white sauce over the onions followed by the mozzarella. Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese has turned golden brown. Garnish with fresh thyme.

Pillowy bites of gnocchi smothered in a silky tomato sauce, topped with golden cheese. Comfort food heaven! Though I make this with store bought Marinara Sauce, I like to freshen up the flavours by simmering it will garlic and onion before using.

1 ½ pounds gnocchi (store bought)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves (minced)
½ onion (finely chopped)
700 ml marinara sauce (24 ounces)
½ cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning ((optional))
1 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
½ cup basil leaves (torn/chopped)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Cook gnocchi according to packet directions. Drain and transfer to 1.5 quart baking dish.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and onion, cook for 1 ½ minutes.
  • Add marinara sauce. Turn heat down and bring to simmer. Stir through cream and Seasonings, if using.
  • Pour over gnocchi. Stir to spread out. Top with cheese. Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden.
  • Garnish with basil leaves if desired and serve immediately.

For this recipe you will need a skillet and a casserole. If you have an oven-safe skillet with deep sides, even better. Most skillets are only safe to 350 degree or 400. A Dutch oven would work well too.

8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (4 cups)
kosher salt
fresh ground black pepper
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 cup chicken broth
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
1/2 rotisserie chicken, skin removed, shredded (2 cups)
17 1/2 ounces potato gnocchi
1 1/2 cups Baby Spinach, loosely packed
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated (1 oz)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Heat your skillet over medium high heat, add the oil, then mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, about 4 minutes or so. Transfer mushrooms to a plate and wipe out the skillet.
  • Reduce the heat under the skillet to medium and melt the butter in the skillet. Stir in the flour and cook, whisking, for about 3 minutes. Whisk in the milk and chicken broth, simmering while whisking, until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and the nutmeg.
  • Add in the chicken, mushrooms, gnocchi, and spinach. Stir to coat everything and wilt the spinach. Sprinkle with Parmesan, then transfer the whole shebang to the oven. If using a separate casserole, transfer everything to the casserole, then sprinkle with the Parmesan.
  • Bake until bubbling, about 20 minutes. If you like, turn on the broiler and brown the top for about 3 minutes.

1 package frozen potato gnocchi
1 lb bulk pork sausage
1 -2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese or 1 -2 cup Italian cheese blend
1 jar your favorite pasta sauce
1 -2 teaspoon italian seasoning

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a large skillet, crumble and brown sausage until cooked through.
  • Drain.
  • Meanwhile, cook gnocchi according to package directions.
  • In a large, oven-proof casserole dish, combine sausage, gnocchi, pasta sauce, half the cheese and half the Italian seasoning.
  • Bake casserole approx. 25 minutes, or until heated through.
  • Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle with remaining Italian seasoning and bake another 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
