Number Of Ingredients 7

Ingredients

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups flour (1/2 to 1 c extra if really sticky.)

Steps:

Mix Butter, Sugar, Eggs and Vinalla really well.
Add Salt, Baking soda, and Flour and Mix well.
Chill over night if you want. if you do that, you don't need to put the extra flour inches.
Roll out and cut out with cookie cutters.
Bake at 350* for 10min.

This is another ex MIL recipe. I like the hint of lemon that makes these cookies different than most. And they don't taste like paste!

Ingredients

CREAM
1 1/2 stick butter, softened
1 c sugar
BEAT IN
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon zest, grated
SIFT TOGETHER AND SPOON IN
3 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Steps:

1. Divide dough into 4 pieces. Wrap in waxed paper and chill 2 or more hours.
2. Roll one portion at a time to 1/4 or 1/8 thickness on a lightly floured board.
3. Cut out in your favorite shapes. Sprinkle with sugar decorations before baking.
4. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
