CUTE THANKSGIVING TURKEY COOKIES

Cute Thanksgiving Turkey Cookies image

I'm always on the look-out for cute things to add pizazz to holiday dessert trays, placesetting favors and bake sales/fundraisers. And these cute little guys caught my eyes several years ago! The recipe calls for using store-bought cookie dough, but I always make the cookies homemade. Either way, they turn out adorable! Happy Thanksgiving! (photo from bing images)

Categories     Cookies

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 - (16.5 oz.) pkg. refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough roll, or homemade
3/4-1 cup - chocolate frosting
1/3 cup - sliced almonds, can sub candy corns if desired
48 - white chocolate chips
48 - mini chocolate chips, *can sub chocolate frosting
24 - candy corns
48 - pretzel twist pieces, for feet

Steps:

  • Prepare cookies according to package direstions. (*I make homemade, though.) Cool completely. With a pastry bag (or ziplock baggie snipping corner off), add a small mound of frosting to center of cookie not all the way to the edge. Add almond slices or candy corns (point end-down), into half of outer edge of each cookie for feathers. Place 2 white chocolate chips on each for eyes. With frosting, adhere tiny chocolate chip morsels to white ones for pupils. (*I just changed tips and made them with frosting.) Place on candy corn noses, and pretzel pieces feet. And there you have it! Cute lil' buggers!! :D *You can also make a dab of simple frosting, tint it red and make the wattles. Just pipe across top of candy corn and down one side.

EASY THANKSGIVING TURKEY COOKIES

Easy Thanksgiving Turkey Cookies image

These cookies are cute and easy! Kids love them! Fun to make! I used the refrigerated cookie dough - but you could even buy pre-made sugar cookies and decorate them... We took these to my kids classes for their pre-Thanksgiving party and they were a huge hit! It's probably easiest to just look at the picture to make these rather than follow my directions - but good luck! Enjoy!

Time 20m

Yield 24 cookies, 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (18 ounce) roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1 (8 ounce) bag candy corn
1 (8 ounce) bag miniature M&M's chocolate candies
2 ounces decorating gel
1 (6 1/2 ounce) can betty crocker decorating icing

Steps:

  • Cut and bake the sugar cookies as directed on the package.
  • Cool.
  • With the can of spray frosting, squirt a line on the top of the cookie that covers about 1/4 of the cookie arc. Place 5-6 candy corn along the frosting row to make the turkey feathers.
  • Next squirt two dots in the middle for the eyes. Top with 2 mini M&Ms of the same color.
  • With the gel frosting, make a "V" for the beak - and then an upside-down "Y" for the feet.
  • Cute!
