Time 1h30m
Yield 1 ({9 x 5-inch|23 x 12.5-cm}) loaf
Number Of Ingredients 11
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan generously with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the flour mixture and mix on low speed until just combined. Add the mashed bananas, sour cream and vanilla extract and beat until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Cook on high power in 20 second intervals, stopping to stir in between, until about 80% melted. Stir until smooth, letting the residual heat in the bowl melt the remaining bits of unmelted chocolate. Add the cocoa powder and stir until dissolved. Add one cup of the banana bread batter to the melted chocolate and stir until well combined.
- Spoon the plain batter and chocolate batter alternately into the prepared loaf pan. Swirl the batters together with a knife (don't overdo it or the colors will get muddled -- up and back 4 to 5 times should suffice). Bake for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10 minutes, then remove the loaf from the pan and set on the wire rack to cool completely.
- Freezer-Friendly Instructions: The bread can be frozen for up to 3 months. After it is completely cooled, wrap it securely in aluminum foil, freezer wrap or place in a freezer bag. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.

CHOCOLATE MARBLE BREAD WITH GANACHE
This chocolaty loaf is a bit lighter than pound cake. It's great with a glass of milk, but the swirls and ganache make it fancy enough to offer with dessert wine.

Yield Makes one 8 1/2-inch loaf
Number Of Ingredients 9
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8 1/2-by-4-by-2 1/2-inch loaf pan; dust with flour, tapping out excess. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder into a medium bowl.
- Melt 5 ounces chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth.
- Put butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on low speed until smooth, 2 to 3 minutes. Add sugar; raise speed to medium. Cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl. Mix in eggs, 1 at a time. Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture in three batches, alternating with two batches of milk. Mix until just combined.
- Pour half of batter into melted chocolate; stir well. Alternating between remaining plain batter and the chocolate batter, drop large spoonfuls of batter into the prepared pan. When pan is filled, use a table knife to cut through mixture with a swirling motion.
- Bake until a cake tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 1 hour. (If bread browns too quickly, tent with foil.) Let bread cool slightly in pan on a wire rack, about 10 minutes. Run a thin knife around edges of bread to loosen; unmold. Let cool completely on rack.
- Make ganache: Put the remaining 3 ounces chocolate in a medium bowl. Heat cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until just about to simmer. Pour cream over chocolate; stir until mixture is smooth. Let stand 10 minutes to thicken slightly. Using a small offset spatula, spread ganache over cooled cake; let stand until set, about 1 hour.

- Stir in cocoa powder and milk until combined.
- Pour 1/4 cup of the plain batter into the first prepared pan.
- Top the batter with 2 tablespoons chocolate batter.
- Repeat with the second pan.
- Continue alternating batters on top of each other in both pans until you've used up both batters.

MARBLED CHOCOLATE BANANA BREAD (VEGAN)
Doesn't marbling just make everything better? And in this case it combines the goodness of chocolate and banana together. I found this on the www.theppk.com. One of my favorite sites!

Steps:
- Prepare boiling water, no need to measure yet. Also, preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mash the banana in a large mixing bowl until relatively smooth. It should take 3 average sized ones, but spoon the mashed 'nanas into a measuring cup to make sure, then return to the mixing bowl. Beat in the sugar, canola oil, milk and vanilla.
- Now add the flour, baking soda and salt and gently mix just to incorporate. It's okay if there is some flour still visible, just be careful not to overmix at this point.
- Scoop one cup of the batter up and transfer it to a separate mixing bowl. Now, in a small tea cup mix the cocoa powder with 3 tablespoons boiling water and stir vigorously with a fork until the chocolate is dissolved. Add this chocolate mixture to the one cup of banana and mix until the chocolate is thoroughly smooth and incorporated.
- Now back to the original plain banana batter; add 3 tablespoons of boiling water and mix the batter just until relatively smooth. (Unless your batter is already moist enough, then skip the extra water.).
- Here comes the fun part, it's time to marble! Lightly grease an 8×4 loaf pan. Scoop alternate 1/2 cupfuls of chocolate/banana batter into the loaf pan. Nothing has to be precise here, in fact, the more random, the better. Once all of the batter is in, take a butter knife and swirl it through the batter in circular directions for about 10 seconds.
- Bake for 55 minutes. Use a butter knife to test for doneness. Let cool and enjoy!

CHOCOLATE MARBLE ZUCCHINI BREAD RECIPE BY TASTY
This twist on zucchini bread combines the best of both worlds: cinnamon and spice with decadent triple chocolate. Don't worry about squeezing excess liquid from the zucchini - it will keep the bread moist! Before you bake, swirl the two batters together with a skewer or knife for a perfect marbling effect. For the best slice, let the bread cool completely before serving - but you might not be able to wait that long!

- First things first, start by proofing the yeast. In a bowl, combine lukewarm milk, 1/4 cup of sugar (reserve 3/4 cup of sugar for later), and yeast. Stir it together until the sugar and yeast dissolve. Place it in a warm place and let the yeast proof.
- Using a silicone spatula, transfer half of the dough into a medium glass bowl (and reserve for adding cacao and cinnamon later, after finishing mixing the white dough first).
- Towards the end of the rising time, make the eggs wash. Beat an egg with water until well combined and set aside until ready for use.
- Work with one color of dough at a time. Move the white dough onto a well-floured working surface. Knead the dough into a ball and split the white dough in half (keep in mind that this recipe makes 2 loaves of marbled bread). Place the second half of the white dough back into the glass bowl and cover it again with plastic to prevent it from drying out. Roll the dough out into a large rectangle, about 1/4" in thickness.
