2 pints fresh blackberries
1/4 cup sugar
Juice of 1/2 lime
2 cups sugar
Zest of 3 limes
1 lime wedge
2 cups tequila
1/2 cup triple sec
1/2 cup sugar
2 limes
Ice

Steps:

  • For the puree: Add the blackberries to a medium saucepan with the sugar and lime juice. Cook over low heat, covered, 20 to 25 minutes. Strain using a fine mesh strainer, pressing the berries to extract as much juice/puree as possible. Place in the fridge to cool completely.
  • For the lime sugar: Mix together the sugar and lime zest. Use a piece of lime to moisten the rim of each margarita glass, and then dip in the lime sugar.
  • For the margaritas: In a blender, add 1 cup of the tequila, 1/4 cup of the triple sec, 1/4 cup of the sugar, and the juice of 1 lime. Fill the blender with ice and blend until smooth. Then add as much blackberry puree as desired, 1/3 to 1/2 cup. Pour into 4 rimmed glasses and serve immediately. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients for the other 4 glasses.

1/2 ounce brandy
1/2 ounce cointreau
1/2 cup margarita mix
1/4 ounce fresh lime juice
1 crushed ice
1 salt, for garnish
1 lime slices, for garnish

Steps:

  • Squeeze the lime juice onto a small dish and pour salt onto a second small dish. Dip the rim of a margarita glass into the lime juice, followed by the salt. In a cocktail shaker, add a handful of crushed ice and all the other ingredients. Shake vigorously, and pour into the margarita glass. Add a lime slice to the side of the glass.

This is delicious and easy! I like to make this on the weekends beause I can marinate the Chicken while I am busy doing other things. Serve with rice and black beans for a quick weekend meal, much cheaper than going out to eat too!

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 cup liquid margarita mix
1 teaspoon garlic powder
fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Pour margarita mix over chicken breasts, and marinate for 2 hours in refrigerator.
  • When ready to prepare, drain and dust chicken breasts with black pepper.
  • Grill on an outside grill (or George Foreman works) 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • If you do not have a grill use an iron skillet. Bring to medium high temperature and spray skillet with an oil coating. Braise the chicken breasts until done on each side. Place chicken breasts atop Black Beans.
  • Serve with a serving of your favorite Mexican rice and Pico de Gallo.

  • Spicy Sauza Jalapeño Margarita. This is the best Chili’s Margarita. When I took my first sip, I struggled with whether to put this one above the Fresca.
  • Jimador Fresca Margarita. I love fresh cocktails, and nothing screams fresh like cucumber. So I don’t care that the Fresca Margarita is served in a pint glass instead of a Margarita glass.
  • El Niño Margarita. Now we’re getting into serious Margarita territory. Of the more purist Margs on chili’s menu, the El Niño is by far the best. It’s a little salty on the inside, but in a good way.
  • Patrón Margarita. The most premium of the Chili’s signature cocktails. It’s loaded with Patrón tequila and Patrón Citrónge. It’s served in a small glass with a little mock Patrón bottle holding the leftover Margarita so you can refill whenever you want.
  • Blueberry & Pineapple Margarita. This is the drink that James and Mike came for, only to be told Chili’s was out of it. Yet as I finished testing my 11th Margarita, Kari brought out a final-hour surprise: There was just enough Blueberry & Pineapple Margarita left over for me to try.
  • Coronita Margarita. I hit drink number eight, the Coronita Margarita, with some hesitation. But at this point I was just happy there was a beer in sight.
  • Platinum Presidente Margarita. This was the second Margarita I ordered, and I was still getting acclimated to the task. Like the comparatively plebeian Presidente Margarita, it’s a Chili’s standard.
  • Presidente Margarita. This is Chili’s flagship Margarita. Hell, the drink even comes on tap. It’s sweet and boozy with a little lime and rock salt on the rim.
  • Tropical Sunrise Margarita. This drink came accompanied by screams of, “Is he really drinking all those drinks?” and “YEEEEAAAAH BOIIII” from a group of five women at the other side of the bar.
  • Triple Berry Margarita. If you’ve smelled blueberry hookah, then you are familiar with the taste of the Triple Berry Margarita. I got looks of disbelief when I said that out loud, but after every sip I thought the same thing — from the deep pomegranate color to the fruity taste, it was blueberry hookah all the way.
