Plain brown sugar and butter turns into caramelly goodness that surrounds chocolate cereal squares for a scrumptious crunchy snack.

8 cups Chocolate Chex® cereal
¾ cup packed brown sugar
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
¼ teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup vanilla baking chips

Steps:

  • Into large microwavable bowl, measure cereal; set aside. Line cookie sheet with waxed paper.
  • In 2-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave brown sugar, butter and corn syrup uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until melted and smooth. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Pour over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Microwave on High 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread on cookie sheet. Cool 10 minutes. Break into bite-size pieces.
  • In small microwavable bowl, microwave vanilla baking chips uncovered on High about 1 minute 30 seconds or until chips can be stirred smooth (bowl will be hot). Drizzle over snack. Refrigerate until set. Store in tightly covered container.

3 cups Rice Chex™ cereal
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 bag (14-oz size) caramels (about 25)
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 300°F. Grease 15x10x1-inch pan. In large bowl, mix cereals.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, heat milk, butter and caramels over low heat, stirring constantly, until caramels are melted. Pour over cereals, stirring until evenly coated. Spread in pan.
  • Bake 20 to 24 minutes, stirring after 10 minutes, until golden brown. Spread on waxed paper to cool, about 15 minutes.
  • In microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips uncovered on High about 1 minute or until chocolate can be stirred smooth (bowl will be hot). Drizzle chocolate over snack. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set. Store in airtight container.

7 oz kraft caramels (about 25)
2 Tbsp butter or margarine
2 Tbsp milk
1/2 c chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. In large microwaveable bowl, mix cereals.
  • 2. In medium microwavable bowl, microwave caramels, butter and milk on high 2-3 minutes, stirring after each minute until caramels are melted and smooth. Pour over cereals, gently stir until coated.
  • 3. Microwave on high 3-4 minutes, stirring after each minute. Spread on waxed paper to cool.
