Nummy sweet chocolaty balls of cookie goodness. Especially good for children and husbands.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups rolled oats
¾ cup white sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon water
½ teaspoon vanilla
⅔ cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the oats, sugar and cocoa. With clean hands, mix in the water, vanilla and butter to form a dough. Wash hands, then roll the dough into balls 1 to 2 inches in diameter. Roll balls in confectioners' sugar until thickly coated (or they will become crusty). Chill 20 minutes before serving.

My mom used to make these cookies when we were kids, at Easter she would make a well in the centre and add jelly beans to look like birds nests.

2 cups sugar
6 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup shredded coconut
3 cups rolled oats

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, cocoa, butter or marg and milk in large sauce pan and bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla, coconut and rolled oats, stir until all in coated in chocolate mixture.
  • Drop by the spoonful onto greased cookie sheet, etc and allow to cool before eating.
  • These cookies set up best if cooled in the fridge.

I have made these chewy, mouth watering cookies since I was little girl, and when I got married, my husband always ate at least 6 at a time! My children would always ask me, "why do your oatmeal cookies taste so much better than anybody else's?! This was my Mother's recipe, and it really is the BEST! I dare you to eat "just one" !!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup butter, softened
2 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup molasses (light or dark)
3 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
3 1/2 cups raisins

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Lightly grease baking sheets and set aside.
  • Mix together the butter and sugar until creamy.
  • Add eggs and molasses and beat well.
  • Stir in the raisins and let them soak in this mixture while you sift the dry ingredients.
  • Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
  • Add to butter mixture.
  • Stir in the oatmeal.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on greased baking sheet.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes or until the center of the cookie is set.
  • Makes about 8 - 10 dozen irresistible cookies ").
  • Cookies can be cooled on foil spread on a counter or table.
