Steps:
- To make the frosting: in a large mixing bowl, cream butter and cream cheese; gradually add powdered sugar, beating (with an electric mixer) until mixture is light and fluffy.
- Stir in vanilla; set aside.
- To make cake: In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well with an electric mixer at medium speed.
- Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In another bowl, combine buttermilk and soda; stir until soda is dissolved.
- Add flour to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
- Mix after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Add in 1 cup walnuts and coconut; stir well.
- In another bowl, beat egg whites (at room temperature) and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form; fold egg white mixture into batter.
- Pour batter into 3 greased/floured 9-inch round cake pans.
- Bake in a 350° oven for 22-25 minutes or until pick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans and let cool completely on wire racks.
- Spread Cream Cheese Frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.
- Press additional chopped walnuts onto sides of cake.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Butter and flour a 10" tube pan.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup black walnuts in tube pan and set aside.
- Cream butter and cream cheese, then add sugar beating until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add flour and salt, stirring until well combined.
- Stir in vanilla and remaining black walnuts.
- Pour batter into prepared tube pan.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
- Cool in pan 10 minutes.
- Remove from pan and cool completely on rack.

- 1. Mix cake per box directions, Place in 13x9 pan and bake for 10 to 15 minutes depending on your oven. Let cool. Soften cheese, Add milk and mix, Add pudding and beat til mixed. Pour over cool cake. Add pineapple to top of pudding and cover with cool whip. Sprinkle with nuts. refrigerate.
BLACK WALNUT JIFFY CAKE

- Preheat oven to 350°F. and butter and flour a 10 x 4-inch (4-quart) tube pan.
- Coarsely chop walnuts. In a large bowl with an electric mixer cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. On low speed add flour, salt, and walnuts, beating until combined well, and beat in lemon extract and vanilla. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition, and beat batter on high speed 5 minutes. Pour batter into tube pan and bake in middle of oven 1 1/4 hours. Cool cake in pan on a rack 30 minutes. Turn cake out onto rack and cool completely.
BLACK WALNUT CAKE I
This is a delicious cake, and may also be baked as three 8 inch layers. If you do, use black walnuts mixed with some icing to fill the layers, and ice with the plain icing. Then sprinkle top with additional chopped black walnuts.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
- In a large bowl, cream 1 cup butter, shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt, and add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup black walnuts. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 80 to 90 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together cream cheese and 1/4 cup butter. Add confectioners' sugar, beat well. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Frost cooled cake, and sprinkle with 1/2 cup nuts.

- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg yolks all at once.
- Add vanilla.
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Set aside 1 cup of the dry ingredients.
- Add the remaning flour mixture and the milk in small portions, alternately, mixing well with each addition, starting and ending with an addition of the dry ingredients.
- Mix together, the reserved flour and the nuts, and stir into the batter,mixing just until blended.
- Beat the egg whites until stiff, but not dry.
- Fold them into the batter.
- Bake in a 9x5 inch greased and floured loaf pan at 350 about 50-60 minutes, or until done.
- Frost with your favorite icing.

- Grease and flour a tube or bundt cake pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Blend eggs, oil, nutmeg, and sugar until creamy.
- Add flour, a little at a time; and blend well.
- Batter will be stiff.
- Fold in apples and nuts.
- Pour into tube or bundt cake pan and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove from pan after about 30 minutes.
- Punch holes in top of the cake.
- Mix together topping ingredients in a saucepan.
- Boil for three minutes, stirring frequently.
- Take off the heat and pour topping over cake with a spoon, letting it to seep into the cake holes.
- Brush the sides of the cake with a kitchen brush.
- Let it set for at least 24 hours befor cutting and serving.

- In a bowl, toss walnuts with 1/4 cup flour; set aside. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat on high speed until frosting forms stiff peaks, about 7 minutes. Frost the cake.
