Beef and Bean 5-Layer Dip image

Satisfy a hungry cheering crowd with Beef and Bean 5-Layer Dip. The perfect easy-to-make hearty appetizer for game day.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/2 pounds Certified Angus Beef ® ground beef
2 teaspoons canola oil
1 package (8-ounce) taco simmer sauce
1 (16-ounce) can refried beans
1 (15-ounce) can of black beans, drained and rinsed
2 (4-ounce) cans diced green chilies
2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
1 cup sour cream
2 cups medium or hot salsa
2 (10 to 15-ounce each) bags tortilla chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat; add ground beef and brown, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat and add taco sauce. Simmer 2 minutes, remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  • Prepare a 15 x 10 x 2-inch baking dish by spreading the refried beans on the bottom in one consistent layer. Continue to layer with black beans, green chilies and reserved beef.
  • Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes to heat all layers. Remove from oven, top with shredded cheese, allowing cheese to melt slightly.
  • Using a spoon, dollop sour cream evenly on surface of cheese and gently smooth it across the top. Top with salsa and serve with chips.

1 lb ground beef
2 (15 ounce) cans corn
1 (15 ounce) can black beans
1 cup chopped white onion
1 (12 ounce) can jalapenos
1 (2 ounce) taco seasoning
1 (12 ounce) jar hot taco sauce
4 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Chop onion and jalapeños for later use.
  • Brown ground beef, and drain fat.
  • Prepare taco meat per directions on seasoning mix.
  • Drain and rinse beans, Drain corn, add to taco meat.
  • Add 1/2 jar of taco sauce (more or less to taste).
  • Simmer 8-10 minutes, till liquids are cooked into the meat.
  • Add chopped onions and jalapeños (to taste).
  • Simmer 2-3 minutes.
  • Top with shredded cheddar and serve with Tortilla chips!

1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (1 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
1 (30 ounce) can refried beans
1 (16 ounce) jar salsa
1 (16 ounce) jar salsa con queso
2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
1 plum tomato, chopped
1 (6 ounce) can sliced black olives, drained
3 green onions, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix sour cream, cream cheese, and taco seasoning mix together in a bowl.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef with the cumin, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease.
  • Spread refried beans into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Layer ground beef mixture over refried beans, lightly pressing beef into beans; top with sour cream mixture.
  • Stir salsa and salsa con queso together in a bowl; pour over sour cream mixture layer. Spread Mexican cheese blend, tomato, olives, and green onions, respectively, over sour cream mixture layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until heated through and bubbling, about 30 minutes.

1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
salt and pepper
1 large white onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
28 ounces tomato sauce (or pureed tomates)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
16 ounces frozen sweet corn
1 lb shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Cook ground sirloin and onions in a saute pan over medium heat until beef is browned. Season with chili powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • In a large bowl combine garlic, beans, tomato sauce, olive oil, and cider vinegar. Add the beef, corn, and all but a handful of the cheese. Mix well and transfer to a 3 quart dish and bake 35-40 minutes, or until bubbly. Remove from oven and top with reserved cheese. Bake an additional 10 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve with tortilla or corn chips.

1 lb lean ground beef (85%)
1 (1 ounce) packet taco seasoning
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 (10 ounce) cans ro-tel diced tomatoes and green chilies
2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed
2 cups shredded monterey jack cheese
2 scallions, sliced thin

Steps:

  • Microwave ground beef, taco seasoning, and garlic in bowl, stirring occasionally, until beef is no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
  • Break up any large pieces of beef with spoon, then drain off fat.
  • Drain tomatoes, reserving ¼ cup juice.
  • Using potato masher, mash half of beans with reserved tomato juice in large bowl until mostly smooth.
  • Stir in beef mixture, remaining beans, tomatoes and 1 ½ c Monterey Jack cheese until well combined.
  • 1 ½ -5 quart slow cooker: Transfer mixture to slow cooker, cover, and cook until heated through, 1-2 hours on LOW.
  • Stir dip to recombine and sprinkle with remaining ½ cup cheese.
  • Cover and continue to cook on LOW until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle dip with scallions and serve; dip can be held on WARM or LOW setting for up to 2 hours.
