This recipe came from my husband's grandmother. It's quick to make and very tasty. Hearty helpings of this specially seasoned rice disappear in a hurry at our dinner table.-Ruth Ann Klassen, Aberdeen, Idaho

1 cup uncooked brown rice
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (28 ounces) stewed tomatoes
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Cook rice according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in tomatoes, seasonings and rice. , Transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350° for 50-55 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, 5-10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

1 green pepper, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) stewed tomatoes
1-1/2 cups water
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 to 1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons tomato paste
French bread

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, green pepper and garlic until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the next eight ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender. Stir in tomato paste and cook until heated through. Serve with French bread.

½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped green bell pepper
1 pound ground beef
1 cup canned corn
1 (6 ounce) can tomato sauce
½ cup ketchup
1 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil. Add the rice, onion and bell pepper and saute for 5 minutes, or until onions are tender. Add the ground beef and saute until browned. Drain excess oil and fat.

  • Prepare rice according to package.

3 slices bacon
1 units onion
1 units green pepper
1 pounds ground beef
1 cups long grain rice
16 ounces tomatoes
4 ounces taco sauce
1 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In large skillet, cook bacon over medium-high heat till crisp; drain-reserving drippings in pan. Set bacon aside.
  • Stir-fry onion and green pepper in drippings, 3 to 5 minutes, remove. Cook beef in pan, stirring often until brown. Drain off fat. Return onion and green pepper to pan.
  • Add rice; stir-fry 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, taco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, 2 cups water, 1/2 tsp. of salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes. Top with cheese and bacon. Cook 1 minute. Serve hot.

  • Brown beef in a skillet and drain off fat; place beef in crock pot.
