This is a family standard. We have it at least once a week during the winter. The spices, nuts and raisins can be interchanged or omitted depending upon your tastes. This also serves as a great breakfast, side dish, or dessert.

6 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
½ cup white sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
½ cup raisins
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup whole milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 quart casserole dish, or coat with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place apples in a large bowl. In a small bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Stir spice mixture into apples until evenly distributed. Fold in raisins and walnuts. Spoon into prepared dish. Pour milk evenly over apple mixture.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until soft and bubbly. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Steps:

  • Peel, halve and core apples.
  • Cut each half into 6 wedges.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and cinnamon.
  • Mix together well.
  • Add apples and toss.
  • Spread apples in a single layer on non-stick or parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake in pre-heated 450*F/230*C oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until browned and tender.

  • Preheat the oven to 350°.

3 apples ((Honeycrisp or Fuji))
2 Tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup butter (melted)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350F. Spray a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Slice the apples into wedges that are about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick at the widest part. (The thicker the apple slices, the longer they'll need to cook).
  • Combine the melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
  • In a large bowl, add the apples, then pour the butter/sugar mixture over top. Mix gently until each apple is coated with the mixture.
  • Pour the coated apples into the baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes or so. The buttery mixture pools at the bottom, so stirring makes sure the apples stay moist and covered in flavour as they bake.
  • The baked apples are done when they're soft enough to cut with a spoon. Enjoy!

Steps:

  • Heat your oven to 400 degrees F. Line a square 8-inch rimmed baking sheet with high-heat-resistant parchment paper.
  • Cut the apple into 12 1/4-inch slices, discarding the core, as shown in the video below.
  • Place the apple slices in the prepared pan. Drizzle them with the melted butter and use your hands to coat them. Arrange them in the pan in a single layer.
  • Sprinkle the tops of the slices with half the cinnamon. Bake for 10 minutes.

  • Season the apples: Put apple slices in a glass bowl. Sprinkle the apples with the sugar. Add a light sprinkle of cinnamon.
  • Microwave the apples: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Be sure to vent the plastic wrap a bit, or poke some holes in it with a fork to let a bit of the steam escape. Microwave for 5 minutes on high power. Adjust the time for your microwave and how many apples you are doing. Ours has a powerful high setting, so 4 cups of apples only takes 5 minutes.
