SUNNY'S QUICK CABBAGE SAUTEED SALAD



Sunny's Quick Cabbage Sauteed Salad image

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
1 cup shredded carrots
1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 medium red onion, sliced paper thin
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon sambal
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Serving suggestions: Sausages and mustard

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the celery seeds and let cook for 1 to 2 minutes to bloom. Add the carrots and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the cabbage, then season with salt and pepper and continue to cook until the cabbage is wilted but still has a little bite to it, about 5 minutes.
  • Place the onion in a medium bowl. Add the honey, sambal and vinegar. Mix together to coat and let sit for 5 minutes. Add the onion mixture to the skillet and mix in. Transfer to a serving bowl.

1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard
1 small shallot, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 small head Napa cabbage, halved and cut crosswise into 1/2-inch strips
1 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves, chopped
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh oregano
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh thyme

Steps:

  • Stir together the oil, vinegar, mustard, shallots, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of black pepper in a large salad bowl. Add the cabbage, parsley, chives, oregano and thyme and toss to coat. Let stand at least 15 minutes or refrigerate up to 24 hours before serving.

1/2 cup julienned red pepper
1/4 cup finely slivered red onion
1 small bunch chives, cut into 2-inch lengths

Steps:

  • In a bowl whisk together the vinegar, oil, Dijon, sugar, and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, toss the cabbage, carrot, red pepper, red onion, and chives together lightly.
  • Drizzle the salad with the vinaigrette, and toss to coat.

2 tablespoons oil
1 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/3 cup olive oil
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 small red cabbage, shredded
6 scallions, chopped
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a small skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Add almonds and sesame seeds.
  • Sauté until slightly brown, set aside.
  • Combine oil, sugar, vinegar, salt and white pepper in a jar.
  • Cover tightly and shake.
  • Set aside.
  • Combine cabbage, scallions, water chestnuts and pasta in a large bowl.
  • Toss in nut mixture.
  • Toss with dressing before serving.

2 ½ cups shredded red cabbage
1 (10 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1 green onion, chopped
¼ cup sweetened dried cranberries
¼ cup pine nuts
⅓ cup canola oil
¼ cup vinegar
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 pinches salt

Steps:

  • Lightly toss red cabbage, mandarin orange segments, green onion, and cranberries together in a salad bowl.
  • Toast pine nuts in a small skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, until fragrant and lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Remove immediately to a bowl and let cool.
  • Whisk canola oil, vinegar, sugar, and salt in a bowl until sugar and salt have dissolved.
  • Stir toasted pine nuts into salad and pour dressing over the top. Toss again to coat salad with dressing.

2 cups thinly sliced red cabbage
4 -5 green onions, chopped
1 green bell pepper, medium diced

1 -2 carrot, shredded
2 large apples, cored and coarsley chopped
1/2 cup mayonnaise (Hellman's is best)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 -2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon poppy seed
2 -3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
salt & freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the cabbages, green onions (can use thinly sliced regular onions if desired), green and red bell peppers; toss well to coat.
  • In another bowl, combine the dressing ingredients; mix well.
  • Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture; toss well to blend.
  • Cover, and refrigerate for 2 (or more) hours.
  • Add in the apple JUST before serving; toss.
  • DELICIOUS!

2 Cox's apples , quartered, cored and sliced
handful of radishes or 2 celery sticks, sliced
3 tbsp toasted pine nuts
1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp each sunflower seeds and linseeds
2 tsp grated root ginger
1 tsp clear honey
2 tbsp lemon juice
4 tbsp light olive oil

Steps:

  • Prepare all the ingredients for the salad and mix them in a large bowl.
  • Put all the dressing ingredients into a small bowl. Season and whisk until slightly thickened. Pour over the salad and toss until evenly coated.
