Citrus Iced Tea with Mint image

"I think I have finally hit on a recipe for iced tea that doesn't have that artificial sweetener aftertaste," notes Dawn Lowenstein of Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

Number Of Ingredients 6

8 cups water, divided
6 tea bags
1 to 2 mint sprigs
3-1/2 teaspoons Crystal Light lemonade drink mix
2 cups orange juice
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, bring 1 qt. of water to a boil. Add tea bags and mint. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain; discard tea bags and mint. , In a large container, combine lemonade mix and remaining water. Stir in the tea and orange juice. Cool. Serve over ice.

3 green tea bags
1 quart boiling water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 large lemon, sliced into 1/4-inch slices
1 bunch fresh mint, washed
2 cups cold water

Steps:

  • Brew tea in boiling water, letting steep for 10 minutes. Pour brewed tea into a serving pitcher. Add sugar and lemon, and swirl in the mint, holding it by the stems and using it to stir and dissolve the sugar. When sugar is dissolved, drop mint into pitcher and add 2 cups cold water. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled. Strain mint out before serving and serve cold.

¾ cup white sugar
6 regular-size tea bags
1 peppermint tea bag
¼ cup frozen lemonade concentrate

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan over high heat; remove from heat, then stir in sugar until dissolved. Add the tea and peppermint tea bags, and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Remove tea bag and stir in the lemonade. Serve tea over ice.

  • 2. Remove tea bags and mint, squeezing gently.
  • 3. Stir in remaining ingredients and chill for 1 hour. Serve over ice.

1/2 cup honey
4 kumquats, sliced into rounds, optional
2 key limes or 1 regular lime, sliced into rounds

Steps:

  • Bring 4 cups water to a simmer in a saucepan. Remove from the heat, add the tea bags and let steep for 8 minutes. Remove the tea bags and stir in the honey. Let cool.
  • Add the sweetened tea to a pitcher along with 2 cups ice and another 4 cups water; stir. Add the sliced kumquats (if using), key limes and lemon. Pour into glasses over ice and garnish with mint.

300ml fresh orange juice
juice 1 lime
1⁄2 sliced orange , mint leaves and ice to serve

  • Make the tea with 1.2 litres water and the sugar. Add mint to the pot and infuse for 10 mins. Strain and cool.
  • Pour into a jug, stir in the juices and serve with orange slices, mint and plenty of ice.

½ cup instant iced tea powder
1 cup white sugar
2 quarts cold water
1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed

Steps:

  • In a 1 gallon pitcher, combine the mint leaves, 1 quart of boiling water, instant tea powder and sugar. Stir to dissolve sugar. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  • Stir in the cold water and lemonade concentrate. Serve in tall glasses over ice. Strain out mint leaves, if desired.

  • Prepare the Basic Simple Syrup as directed, adding 8 mint sprigs before bringing it to a boil. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly, about 10 minutes. Strain the mint syrup into a blender and puree with the 1 cup of mint leaves.
  • In a large saucepan, bring the cold water to a boil. Remove from the heat, add the tea bags and let steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let cool to room temperature. Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate until chilled.
  • Pour the tea into a pitcher, add the lemon juice and stir in 3/4 cup of the mint syrup, or more to taste; refrigerate the remaining syrup for later use. Serve in 8 tall glasses over ice, garnished with a mint sprig and a slice of lemon.
